Above are some excellent resources! Below are the countries!
Mary after I hung up with you I came up with a great idea... could you draw us an outline of the South American Contenent with the countries borders? (poster board size) I make up little flags and we'll place them in the correct spot after each presentation. Visual recognition is a great thing!
Ecuador Abbey (1)
Columbia Novotny/Hand (8)
Venezuela Novack (5)
Guyana Tyler Carden
Suriname Ryan Carden (4)
French Guiana Pangborn (3)
Peru Rodriguez (6)
The number in ( ) is the amount of people in the family/group so that we can plan food accordingly.
I am really looking forward to this!
Tammy
* Each family will be assigned a country the research needs to include but not be limited to;
Country Flag (re-create to be hung on the wall no bigger than 14x20ish)
language
capitol
neighbors
traditions
national crop/ industry
some history i.e....
saints, explorers, kings etc...
current events
All presentations are to be given by the children and should not take longer than 15 minutes per country.
You have probably noticed that this is timed over lunch! BECAUSE...
Each family is to make and bring a dish (no limit to the food -- just make sure that there is enough for everyone to sample) from their country. We will have lunch at 12 and be heading home by 1 so that everyone can get to piano or sports that are scheduled that day. We did this before and the kids and moms loved it!
This is a family event and open to all ages. I do need to know if you plan on participating so that I can assign you a country as soon as possible. |
