The discovery of two letters in the Utica Post Office addressed to Col. Charles Lindbergh and advising him to leave $50,000 in small bills in Hinckley sends state troopers on the trail of the latest clue in the kidnapping mystery. Lindbergh's infant son, Charles Jr., was kidnapped last month in New Jersey and police continue to search for him and the kidnappers.
The second letter in Utica contains the printed message — "Baby Is Safe" — and then repeats the $50,000 demand and where in Hinckley the money should be left.
