It's 33 on the IMDB top 250 films, ahead of my FAVORITE movie of all time, American Beauty. It's also apparently #1 animated (should be Spirited Away), #1 Family (#2 is Star Wars), #1 Comedy 9#2 is Dr. Strangelove) and #1 film 2000-2009 (#2 is The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King). I'm interested to seed why it's outranking all these amazing films.

because the trolls haven't attacked it yet, not to mention it is an amazing movie. And the list is COMPLETE shit. Take a look at it. Hit "ctrl" + "f" on your key board and type in "gone with the wind" then 'enter" and see how far down it is and what movie is outranks it.

I cannot WAIT to see this! It looks great. Could it be the second animated film to be nominated for Best Picture. Well, going by the reviews...yes.

OH, and Connor, I saw American Beauty a few days ago. OMG! It was excellent! #8 on my list.

It seems that "Ratatouille" is know the #2nd comedy of all time, the #6th film of the last decade and the #3rd family fim on IMDB's lists. It's still considered the best animated film of all time though.

really? Well I havn't seen Ratatouille yet, but I have seen the #2 animated film Spirited Away and I thought it was just stunning. It's amazing what Hayao Miyazaki can do. I'll have to see Ratatouille.

I want to know if animated performances are eligible for Oscars becaues I'm writing an animated bait right now and I'd like to know so I can build my campaign. Oh well, are the even eligible for Best Picture anymore?

Animated films are eligible for Best Picture, Best Director and Screenplay categories at the Oscars, but not for performances.

woah...i didn't know animated films were eligible for best director....the academy obviously does not take them seriously

also, no animated film will score a best pic nod again because of the animated feature film category.

First off, I'm not sure if animated films are eligible for Director, but they certainly should be.

Animated films can get nominated for Best Picture; it'll just be harder. An animated film scoring a BP nod will be like a Foreign Language Film getting one, only 10 times less likely. But it can still happen, and I can almost guarantee that it will someday.

Ratatouille will got nods for:

- Animated Feature - because it has zero competition this year, because the Academy is sorry it gave Happy Feet the Oscar last year, and because Ratatouille is simply one of the best films ever created.
- Original Screenplay - the only animated films to have been nominated for Original Screenplay have been Pixar films (correct me if I'm wrong), and the screenplay rocks.
- Original Score - because Michael Giacchino, the composer of Ratatouille, got snubbed for his score on The Incredibles, and because Ratatouille's score is just as good.
- Sound Editing - The sound is incredible.

Ratatouille should get nominated for:
- Best Picture - but it won't, because it's animated.
- Director - but it won't, because directors for animated films are "too different" from live action films
- Original Song - I don't know about this one, since there are so many songs that get snubbed each year.
- Sound Mixing - but it won't, because there aren't very many explosions in Ratatouille.
