I firmly believe that the Canadian film "Away from Her" should get the Best Picture Oscar in 2008 (or at least Best Foreign Film, which seems ridiculous, because it's entirely in English and Canada is hardly "foreign.")
It is already one of the best reviewed movies of 2007, and it could compete in just about every category - Best Picture, Best Actress (Julie Christie), Best Actor (Gordon Pinsent), Best Supporting Actor/Actress (Michael Murphy, Olympia Dukakis), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director (Sarah Polley) - it really is a perfect movie.

To respond to the OP in a less vulgar way: I disagree wholeheartedly, good sir. You can read my review of the film on the main page of this site. Here is an excerpt:
"Polley's inexperience as a writer and director of feature films is painfully apparent throughout; the film completely lacks subtlety and is endlessly repetitive. Several scenes were unnecessary in terms of driving the plot, creating tone, or revealing character, and only served to distract the viewer's attention. Away from Her fails to capitalize on the mountain of potential inherent in the story, and is only kept from being a complete disaster by the performances of the two lead actors."
"Have you ever transcended space and time?"
"Yes... Well, space, not time... I have no idea what you're talking about."
