I wish There Will Be Blood was nominated for screenplay and direction. Oh well.

Big boosts for Atonement and Sweeney Todd. Pretty pissed 'Juno' went 0 for 3, but it'll at least get a win for Screenplay when the Oscars come up!

The Golden Globes are so absurd. Luckily they have no bearing on the Oscars.

I dont really think the Globes are lame or anything, they are just more "popular" so to speak.

Im glad for Atonement and Sweeney Tood for that great boost. Marion Cotillard must be waking up right now in France in a burst of deserved joy. I think the snub for Cody was really strange but the Coen's were the second in line. Nice for Best Song. Ratatouille keeping his glory and the expected wins for Day Lewis, Depp, Bardem and Christie. Nice one for Mr.Schnabel. He is SO going as a nominee to the Oscars.

Do you think this hurt their chances to win the best director oscar? I feel like they got snubbed for fargo and are on their way to another snub which i feel would be terrible seeing as how their movie was so good and so critically acclaimed.

What is everyones feeling?

So Happy about "Atonement"

I don't even care if the Oscars go for it, I'm glad the film got an award. It deserves it, definitely.

I am also happy about Director Schnabel, and Blanchett!

Cool choices.

The Schnabel win seems like something that we are going to be talking about for a long time. That win was a surprise, but judging how much the GG's go for the foreign factor, it's not very surprising.

Good choices!

I think the HFPA did pretty well this year. The acting categories were actually given to the best performances. Except the Amy Ryan snub is questionable but it's hard to choose between Blanchett and Ryan this year.
Happy to see Cotillard getting the globe, even though Juno was my favorite film of 2007 and Ellen Page is superb in it, she can't beat Marion Cotillard in my opinion. If she wins SAG, Christie can pack her bags.

It's a shame that after so many years Johnny Depp finally wins, but he can't accept it in the way he deserves. But i'm pretty sure it wont be his last memorable performance.

All though I haven't seen Sweeney Todd, I doubt it can beat my opinion regarding the best musical/comedy film. I LOVED Juno, and this comes from a Tim Burton fan! But hey..

I am probably one of the only ones who were not so sad to see Atonement win last night. All though I really liked and appreciated No country, I don't think it deserves best picture. Fargo is still my favorite Coens brothers movie. There Will be Blood would have been the perfect choice tho.

Can't complain about the globes this year, especially director. Which i thought was indeed the best of the bunch.

Hopefully next year the winners will be able to accept their awards again. Looking forward to the oscars! :D

No director for coens?

I really hope it has no indication on the Oscars, considering No Country for Old Men was so outstandingly directed. If a director is going to beat the Coens, I at least hope it's P.T. Anderson or something for just as innovative work. Nice win for Depp though, I was really surprised about the Sweeney Todd win for Best Comedy.

Wow, the Golden Globes are completely ridiculous. I'm actually surprised Keira didn't win because she's foreign. And the "press conference" was actually the worst thing I have ever watched. Please I need a real awards show and quick. Two weeks and counting until SAGs...

Atonement? No Country for Old Men was a perfect film, Eastern Promises was a perfect film. Atonement was not, no way should it deserve to win over those two films.

Marion Cotillard!!!

I am so happy that Marion Cotillard won Best Actress! It's nice to her win based on merit vs. Ellen Page's hype and NO substance. Also, Atonement's big win was great! There Will Blood is the best in the category, though.

After Christie (English), Sweeney Todd (took place in London), Atonement, etc., etc. and 'Extras' (British) won I definitley think it favored the British.

Anyway I was excited for the TV categories Glenn Close won for Damages, QUEEN LATIFAH WON FOR 'Life Support' and espically TINA FEY WON BEST ACTRESS!!!!!!

I thin its great that HFPA had open to foreigners despite common opinions. I think their choices are usually lame but this year they really did it.

I think AMPAS should also learn that giving big prizes to foreigners its not a sin, its just what the globalization is all about.

I have nothing against foreigners or globalization but, North American films were absolutely amazing this year. To see such stupid bias have such an effect on these awards makes me kinda sad.

Oh stop crying about it. Just because the "majority" of 84 people liked one film more than the one you all like does not make them lose credibility! No Country wasn't even that good! Fargo>>>>>>>>>Atonement>No Country

How people become all dramatic about this stupid crap. They're just movies. Get over it. Plus, the winners are all great. That there British, is irrelevant.

Amy Ryan Gone baby?

January 14 2008, 8:42 PM

To be frank, I was quite surprised at Ryan's earlier sweeps at the critics awards.......she isnt even the best supporting turn in the film! that credit, hands down, goes to Harris.....the only plausible explanation i could find-there, the critics are tiring of Cate!.....

Im glad she won..... this IS the best supp turn of the yr......the Mr. Jones sequence is brilliant.....go Cate!

The golden globes were certainly interesting this year. I was a bit taken that Juno wasn't the winner for Best Screen Play though. I was surprised it didn't take the comedy/muscial best picture either. Marion Cotillard shouldn't be an upset like many are saying. Her performance was absolutely fantastic and I think that award went to her very deservingly over Ellen Page. Though I thought Ellen Page was adorable in Juno when I think of all the great performances for best actress, Marion Cotillard just sticks in my head. Into the Wild was majorly snubbed by the Globes this year but its okay it will make it to the oscars. It is my favorite of the year.
