I love Brad Pitt I think he is such a talented and overlooked actor he should have 5 nominations to his name before this year, but this year, I think he was nominated for the wrong movie. I think he should have been nominated for Burn After Reading. But lead...come on...I think he took the spot of 6...maybe 7 more worthy nominees this year, the most obvious being Leonardo DiCaprio and of course Benicio del Toro...most people I know agree with me and think he does not deserve his nomination. As much as I think Pitt is a great actor...a lead actor nod was just not his this year in my mind...what about you guys?

I thought Pitt was good in TCCOBB. It was good solid, subtle acting and the academy loves to reward these type of performances from time to time. 2008 was filled of solid performances. I do think Clint Eastwood was more derserving, but I would put Pitt ahead of DiCaprio. But to answer your question, I guess no...seeing how Pitt didn't make my own top 5, but it's not the biggest disappointment.
On a different note, DiCaprio's film obviously wasn't well liked and no one blinked an eye for Che, so Pitt's nomination wasn't out of the ordinary.

I liked pitt in the first half of the movie, when he was the little benjamin button, but as soon as benjamin got to the age where he was romancing with blanchett it looked like Pitt was on auto pilot, and his performance felt bland and flat at that point. Overall it's a good performance but I feel there was more deserving this year, so... yes I don't think he should of gotten a best actor nod. Although I do believe he should of got one last year for his great performance as jesse james.

i would have nominated Pitt for a supporting role in Burn After Reading, replacing Josh Brolin. I would have given Pitt's slot in the lead category to Collin Farrell for In Bruges

Pitt would have Downey Juniors spot, but I think The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an overlooked and over citisized masterpiece. However, I would have nominated Blanchett over Pitt.

I am glad he made it in. Its a good solid performance that he was fine in. I also feel that Pitt should have gotten a supporting nod a couple of years ago for Babel.

no he does not deserve the nomination. It was a boring performance but still worked well with the movie. He didn't have to act much in it. He just had to look around and walk and sometimes blink.
I would have liked Colin Farrell to have snuck in instead of him.

he carries the entire movie, and he managed to put aside all the technical aspects of his appearance during filming and create a solid, likable character, he got robbed for jesse james (ive always believed), and to be honest, while he was the best part of burn after reading, the movie did not deserve any oscar nod at all, the coens arent THAT good, pitt deserves this, i mean, dont forget twelve monkeys, the man should have WON for that IMO
