Very safe bets. I agree with him on the majority, but I'm hoping The Dark Knight grabs cinematography. Foreign Film could actually go to Waltz with Bashir, but who knows with Foreign Language Film. It seems each year, the frontrunners never win. Also rooting for Mickey Rourke, but it seems Penn is the safer bet.

The only two I disagree with him on Foreign Language Film, and Lead Actor. I don't think anything is going to stop Waltz with Bashir. It was to much industry support to lose I think. I also really think that Mickey Rourke is going to win.

Most of the categories are pretty much set. Waltz with Bashir is going to take best foreign language film. I'm still not convinced that Cruz is the defiant choice for supporting actress though. I don't think TCCOBB will just be given a few technical awards. I have a gut feeling that the academy will go the route of Michael Clayotn last year and award the supporting actress nominee, Taraji P. Henson.I've been reading that she has mad support from the voters so it's by no means out of the question. Her role as the loving and selfless adoptive mother of the title character is the most heart warming of the group. I'm really torn because the BAFTA's have predicted the acting categories correctly the last two years. Does anyone else foresee an upset in this category or is Cruz a lock?

I started a thread a while back on Hensen. I think its possible but not likely. The supporting race could really go anyway. Cruz is obviously the frontrunner and even though she won the Bafta, don't forget that the British Academy loves Woody Allen films. She might have only won because he didn't get nominated for Original Screenplay. I honestly think that Marisa Tomei or Viola Davis might win. If the Academy feels like rewarding Doubt, I think it could be here. Plus the academy likes prostitute/stripper roles (Think Kim Basinger, Shirley Jones, ect.) Its obviously the most wide open of the 4 acting races.

I think the categories that could come out different than his predictions are supporting actress, cinematography, foreign film, score and one of the sound categories. Very rarely does any one get them all right.
