how about Heath Ledger winning- that was the best moment for me. even though it was a given going into the evening, it was nice to actually hear his name called.

I really liked the acting tributes. But my favorite moment was Kate Winslet finally winning. I had my fears that Streep might surprise tonight and I wouldn't have been dissapointed but I am really glad that Kate finally has one!

It was most definately Kate Winslet's Oscar win...I was pacing back and forth moments before that was announced. When it was announced, I had to make sure they actully said 'The Oscar goes to...Kate Winslet'...lol

I loved the format of the show!!!!! The way they presented the acting awards was much more intimate and it really showed how much they enjoyed each nominated performance. I also liked the story they told about how a movie is made and presented the awards following that timeline. The musical numbers were incredible! I hope Jackman hosts again.
P.S. Congraduations Kate Winslet and Heath Ledger!!!!!!!!!

I loved how the acting awards were presented. It seemed more intimated, and it was nice seeing some familiar faces that we may have forgotten about. I also loved the opening number. Especially, when Anne Hathaway got on stage. Wow, she sounded amazing.

really happy to see penelope cruz win, all in all a pretty predictable night. except for departures winning somehow (did n e one see that?) and mickey rourke losing which ruined the night for me personally. mayb next time

I agree with most of the posts. Loved the format of preproduction, post production, ect. Loved having 5 winners up their and giving more personal accounts of nominees. Esp. when the nominees looked touched (Anne Hathaway's reaction to Shirley Mclain esp.) I personally thought jackman did well. I was glad they returned to what the oscars used to be, a stylish celebratory production instead of a lame comedy act with awards in between dumb jokes.
I agree with Ryne as well. Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Hairspray, Across the Universe, Dreamgirls, & Sweeny Todd didn't really make any impact. It was definitely High School Musical 3 & Mamma Mia's brilliance that revived the genre. lol.
