Goodbye 2008, and hello 2009. I am so looking forward to this year and we are so close to March already (signs that this year is moving quick). The new Best Picture predicts are up, but I can't help but to think what people were smoking when they decided to put I Love You Philip Morris under Also in Competition. I mean, I know it's early to start doing some major predicts, but there are so many other films that they could have put. Like Where the Wild Things Are, The Last Station, Whatever Works, Amelia, etc.

They almost got it right. Shutter Island should be up there in the top 5. We have been following Martin Scorsese threwout. Everyone of his films this decade has been nominated for Best Picture, why not put is film in the top 5 and bring down Sherlock Holmes. It's funny, because everytime Ridley Scott makes a film, this site doesn't hesitate to put his film in the top 5 (American Gangster, Body of Lies), and his films don't even come close. But when Marty makes a film, we have to have doubts (I find it hilarious). And is Nottingham coming out this year? I heard it was scheduled for 2010 now.

"Shutter Island" really should be in the top 5 and i don't really know what "Sherlock Holmes" is doing there. also, "Public Enemies" should probably not be in the top 5, but hey, it's just my speculation.

No way Public Enemies should be in the top 5, and Nottingham I read and interview Ridley Soctt said its coming out thi year and its now titled Robin Hood.

I saw "Public Enemies" at a preview screening and it should definitely not be in the top five.
At best, I could see it getting a bunch of tech awards and maybe a single acting award nom (kind of like this year's "Road to Perdition".
Also, why the **** is "Shutter Island" not in the top five? I just plainly don't get that. I mean, you have Martin Scorsese, an incredible plot, a critically-acclaimed book (the author of which also wrote the book for "Mystic River"), and an array of enormous talent in the supporting cast.
I can also never see Guy Ritchie being nominated for an oscar. He's just not that kind of a film maker, in my opinion.
