I really don't think people should be counting the film out just yet because of Guy Ritchie. I am going to compare his career to someone like Taylor Hackford. Hackford has had a couple of bombs on the big screen just like Ritchie. The academy embraced Hackfords exellent work though for Ray in 2004. I have a feeling this will be Ritchies main stream breakout and be a big contender next year. I also think that with Robert Downey Jr. set to have a great year again this year just like last he will be nominated again next year. I am just not sure whether it will be for Sherlock, or for The Soloist. My guess would be that his buzz will be stronger for Sherlock Holmes because of The Soloists early release date. But than again that didn't hurt Melissa Leo, or Richard Jenkins last last year.

The reason I think Holmes will do bad is I know people who have read the script they say its nothing more the Guy Ritchie fun set in Holmes time, plus the studio hated what Ritchie did and made him reshoot thats never a good sign

don't get me wrong, i LOVE Guy Ritchie films. they are some of the most purely entertaining films around today, but if Andrew is right and Sherlock is anything like his other films, it obviously will not be an Oscar contender. In fact, i kind of hope it is like his other films- just because i don't think it will be an Oscar contender does not mean i am not looking forward to it.

This wont be an oscar movie I feal, have to be damn good to get to the ceremony, not that all movies nominated for oscars are good they just fit the stereotype of oscar movies, which this doesnt, so it have to be good
