I doubt it will happen, but then again I was one of the ones who laughed when this site had Robert Downey Jr up there for Tropic Thunder. I am a big fan of Haley and his great comeback for Little Children has garnered him more respectful roles. Personally I feel he should have won in 2006. While I am glad that Eddie Murphy didn't win, I feel Haley's performance had the edge over Alan Arkin.

I like the Departed (Mark Wahlberg) and Blood Diamond (djimon Honsou) more than Little Children but I believed Jackie Earle Hailey deserved the oscar the most for it.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by your comment, Ferris.
Do you mean that he so incredible in it that you couldn't believe it was Jackie Earle Haley who played Rorschach, or that you just didn't know that he was playing that character?

I saw Watchmen tonight not expecting much but i ended up really liking it. The Thing that surprised me the most was that i liked every single character in it-All the heroes were done very well, even Dr. Manhattan with no emotion still was great. All of them had depth and flaws.
Jackie Earle Haley was awesome as was the guy who played the comedian.

Haley was fantastic, but I think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan actually made the best of what little screen time he got. He absolutely showed every subtle emotion that the Comedian was meant to have, and did the character the most justice out of everyone in the film. As of now, both are on my Top 5 for Supporting Actor, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan will probably be there at the end of the year. Terrific film.

gotta say personally, haley was extremely effective in the role (like clive owen in children of men) but not awards worthy IMO. my favorite performance was billy crudup's. the challenge of that role was incredible and he was pitch perfect, such a difficult thing to play so well. when he finally shows the emotions that have been boiling under the surface, when he is surrounded by reporters and teleports himself to mars, its by far the most explosive and genuine moment in the movie
