A friend e-mailed a youtube clip of Within A Whirlwind and I was knocked out by what I saw and that's only the trailer ! The role is total Oscar bait and she has a ton of material to chew on. The whole time I was watching the trailer I couldn't help think that I was watching a clip they would use at the Oscar's. It's a pretty complicated story to write about right here, I just know it's mainly about a woman unjustly imprisoned and her fight for life in that long time she spent there. Go to youtube and type in the title and you'll be able to see her tour de force acting. Only from a 3 minute trailer. Totally baity type movie/role. I don't get moved or swayed by trailers, but after watching that one, I was like " wow ! " It's supposed to be released in spring, but the performance looks excellent enough to stay strong till the end of the year. It just doesn't look like a performance to be nominated it looks like a winning performance. Now I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow...you were right. How impressive. And I thought Emily Watson had given up lead acting roles. That looks more than Oscar worthy, and she is no stranger to the Oscar voters. Could this be seen as a comeback performance ?

I looked at that trailer clip. Yes, that seems pretty intense. She's selling it ! Looks Oscar worthy. Nomination if anything. When does it come out ? Anyone ?

I saw the clip from another site, and all of you are right. That has to be a performance to beat in 09. Just like the other person said, who is going to bring it better than that this year? Good to see Emily back in the driver's seat again. She is in far too many ensemble pieces. Much better actress than that and she shows it again in that WTW trailer.

Haven't been to the ol' Igloo ( ha ) since last summer and decided to check things out. The Whirlwind post got my attraction because Emily Watson is one of my favorite actresses, but I had almost written her off because she hasn't been a leading actress in a long time, but this movie that you see the clip on youtube looks amazing. Glad to see her back and tearing up a new performance ! Really looking forward to it. Just wish they'd say when it will be released.

I went to youtube to check it out. Yes, this looks like one to look for. When is the last time Emily carried a movie ? Like someone said, total Oscar bait type role and performance. Plus it's a true story...please. That would be a mind blower if she isn't in the running for a Oscar nomination next year. It's one of those performances you can just tell has legs. Very few trailers will produce such a powerful resonance and this did.

Now that's some acting ! Great to see her back. I had been wondering why in the last several years she has settled for supporting roles. Any actress worth their salt would have loved to have played this role.

Simply killer. She shows almost every emotion that a human can feel just in that one youtube trailer clip. Thanks to whoever initially hipped me to Emily Watson. And the other person was right. She needs to go back to doing more leading roles. She's very good.

You meant Within The Whirlwind, but I knew what you meant. Anyway... Hells yes, that looks killer ! I can't believe this is still under many predictors radar and more discussion hasn't been mentioned about Emily. None of those actresses they have predicted in the brackets are bringing it acting wise as hard and awesome as Emily is in that trailer. It's a Daniel Day- Lewis in There Will Be Blood type performance where she pretty much shows every emotion a human can. Thanks to B for forwarding me the clip. I am really looking forward to that movie. I just now have been learning more about Euginia's story. It's amazing.

How could you not be impressed with Emily in that ? You'd have to be a complete foolio or blind. Good is good and that is what she looks like in that movie.

I was sent the link a couple days ago and that was something ! I hope it gets a wide release because it looks very interesting. I had no idea about this Eugenia Ginzburg person before I saw the trailer. It's amazing she made it all that time in the Gulag. I went and read about her online and it's crazy all the stuff she went through. And Emily looks amazing in the role ! Most definitely looks like Oscar bait.

Only thing that comes to mind is that Emily Watson looks simply amazing in WTW.
