I'm rooting for this year much more than last year.
1. Nine 8 ˝ is my favorite Fellini film, and one of my all-time favorites. Rob Marshall directed Chicago, my all-time favorite musical (and I have seen Singin in the Rain and Cabaret). Marion Cotillard gave one of my all-time favorite performances in La Vie en Rose. I fell in love with Penélope Cruz in Volver. Daniel Day-Lewis was outstanding in There Will Be Blood. Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench are also great! If everyone gives their BEST in the film (and if Fergie doesnt ruin anything and gives a more Latifah-esque performance) then this could be amazing! I really hope Im not disappointed, so Ill try to calm my anxiety to see this film.
2. Taking Woodstock Ang Lee, a filmmaker with such a poetic vision (from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to Brokeback Mountain) is making a film about Woodstock?! Count me in!
3. The Lovely Bones I really hope Peter Jackson (the director of The Return of the King, on my top 10 of all-time) will come back with this story! Saoirse Ronan was also great in Atonement.
4. Shutter Island Who doesnt love Marty? The maker of the great Goodfellas and the vastly underrated After Hours? So this year, hes back in race with another DiCaprio thriller. Sounds great! (Especially since I loved The Departed).
5. The Human Factor Morgan Freeman in a Nelson Mandela biopic being directed by the amazing Clint Eastwood (Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima and Changeling)! Looks amazing!
6. Amelia Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) is a great actress and this looks like an amazing epic film. The Mira Nair directing choice (a woman from India) is also very interesting. It could be a film with a great character study and amazing visuals.
7. The Road I read the book because this was getting huge amounts of buzz last year! Viggo Mortensen is an amazing actor and, if done right, with the right atmosphere and powerful performances, this could definitely be in the level of No Country for Old Men!
8. The Tree of Life While I wasnt a big fan of The New World, I think this one can be an amazing, poetic and beautiful film! Sean Penn (Milk) is a fascinating actor and so is Brad Pitt (when he DOES get emotional like in Babel, not in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
9. Broken Embraces Almodovar (Talk to Her, Volver) is back directing Penélope Cruz. I fell in love with her in Volver so maybe this could be another amazing performance by her (Ill be rooting for her to win another Oscar if she does give a great performance!)
10. Public Enemies I was highly anticipating this one until I saw the trailer. The idea has a lot of potential but maybe this one will disappoint? Well, Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Neverland, and Sweeney Todd) is an amazing actor and Marion Cotillard is just Marion Cotillard! I cant wait to see it just because of these two.

1) Inglourious Basterds: Quentin Tarantino is God to me, from what I have read of the script its amazing and the trailer made me go from six to midnight.
2) Shutter Island: Marty & Leo again, the script is amazing, Leo never disappoints and this is the role of a lifetime. Very different for Scorsese I can't remember him ever making a psychological mystery thriller before.
3) AVATAR: 197 cameras according to the actors, James Cameron has been working on this since...well seems like since forever but I have a feeling this will be a near 3 hour, sci fi epic masterpiece that will forever set a stand for effects as well as finally perfecting IMAX.
4) Star Trek: I am a huge Trekkie and this seems like the Trek film I've been waiting for, of course it will be inaccurate but Trek is dead and really needs a revamp.
5) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Not gonna lie, I love Michael Bay for his films are(The Rock not included)mindless, action fun, but this looks like that on crack.
6) Terminator Salvation: I had my doubts but each trailer keeps getting better and better...
7) The Lovely Bones: Peter Jackson doing something very different for him could be amazing.
8) The Informant: Love Soderbergh, love Damon, love thrillers, I just hope it doesn't try too hard to be a Coen Brothers film speaking of the Coens...
9) A Serious Man: Coen brother die hard fan so naturally I'm waiting for this...
10) GI Joe: Yea, yea make fun of me but I'm an action movie junkie and this will be so amazingly bad I can't wait!

1) Inglourious Basterds: I am a HUGE fan of Tarantino's; have loved him not only for his incredible talent but also for his guts as a film maker especially in works such as "Kill Bill" and the highly underrated "Death Proof".
2) Shutter Island: Sorry to be copying your list thus far Andrew, but Marty is one of the best directors of all time. From what I've heard of the film and Leo's character, this sounds like it could be one of his best films along with a win (finally) for Leo. Speaking of copying your list...
3) AVATAR: I have a gut feeling that James Cameron's sci-fi epic is not only going to be incredible, but that it'll blow us away. I mean, think about the caliber of film this is turning out to be: James Cameron hasn't made a film in 12 years, CG effects have changed drastically in that time through such films as "The Matrix" and LOTR, the same people who worked on "Iron Man"'s effects are working on this, and the fact that Cameron is known to be such a perfectionist on set that many in Hollywood refuse to work with him.
4) Star Trek: I know this is the fourth film in a row that I've copied from Andrew's list, but I can't hold in my excitement for this film. First of all, J.J. Abrams is a major talent who needs to get more into film (hopefully this will be his meal ticket). I may not know much about Star Trek, but I do know that this film will "boldly go where" no Star Trek film has gone before - to bigger and better heights.
5) Terminator Salvation: This film has a great cast, an incredible look, amazing trailers, and a history in itself which precedes it (I speak both of the other Terminator films as well as Bale's blow-up). Did I mention the effects are ****ing amazing?
6) Up: I have always been a huge fan of Disney/Pixar's many collaborations, and this film looks like a great change of pace and direction for the amazing team. Each trailer is better than the last, the animation is spectacular as always, and it just plainly looks like fun.
7) Funny People: Another different and serious role for Adam Sandler along with Apatow's great line-up of some of the most talented comedians today. Perhaps this film could be the one that the Academy recognizes.
8) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: I am also a huge Michael Bay fan, and personally think that "The Rock" is the second best action film of all time (right behind "Die Hard"). This film plainly looks like epic popcorn fun with incredible production values.
9) The Lovely Bones: This could be another great one from Jackson and crew. It seems like the right kind of material as well as the right cast for this film - in particular a refreshingly different role being played by Stanley Tucci. I have heard of this book since my mom read it when it first came out, and I always considered the idea intriguing. The only thing that worries me is how graphic is Jackson actually going to get?
10) 9: I have not personally seen any of Fellini's films, but the concept for "8 1/2" sounds great. Daniel Day-Lewis is amongst the best actors today, and with a supporting cast of some incredible actresses, this sounds like it could be Oscar gold (or "Chicago" all over again).

Didn't even look at all the other list's because I didn't want to be influenced. I'll go back later and I'm sure I'll see some titles that I meant to put down.
Let me just say there is no way I can list only 10, so let's get that out of the way now.
Here is my 10 in no particular order off the top of my head.
Within The Whirlwind- I was transfixed by what I saw in that trailer. That's so Oscar bait you'd be a fool not to count Emily Watson for a Oscar nod. And that's from a 3 minute trailer for petes sake. The story is intriguing as well, as this is about the Gulag and Stalin's reign, something that gets over shadowed by the Hitler era during WWII.
Avatar- Cameron's huge $$$ comeback. Lots of secrecy on the project which naturally creates buzz. Probably will be a lot like Watchman, people will probably either like it or hate it.
Shutter island- I read the book so I was excited when I heard Scorsese was going to direct. Different kind of film for him. If it's anything like the book, it should be very good.
Tree Of Life- It's Malick, Pitt and Penn. What more do ya want ?
Sherlock Holmes- Not a big Guy Ritchie fan but I am of Robert Downey. Hope it's not too cheesy as this Holmes is diverting from the traditionbal Holmes and he will be a martial artist bad ass and whatnot.
The Lovely Bones- Great director, good story bad casting of Mark Wahlberg in the lead as the father. Should have stuck with Ryan Gosling.
Crazy Heart- Jeff Bridges as a burn out, alcoholic country singer trying for one more comeback.
Leaves Of Grass- Ed Norton playing a stoner ! Priceless. Does this dude have chops or what ? Go from being a skin head racist to a small time pot dealer. Dual roles as well. Can't wait.
Nine- Not a big musical guy but who cares, Daniel Day-Lewis will be singing !
Amelia- Very interesting true story topic. Almost for sure Swank gets another Oscar nod. What do you bet ?
A Serious Man- I'm a huge Coen fan, so I don't care if Richard Kind is the biggest name in the movie, I like the brother's writing.
On the bubble
Creation- With Paul Bettany as Charles Darwin.
Solitary Man- Michael Douglas returns to real dramadic acting.
Flying Into Love- Romola Garai's portrayal of Jackie Kennedy's take on the JFK assassination.
X Men Orgins: Wolverine- How can this go wrong ? Total popcorn fare.
The Wolfman- Hope it doesn't look too much like American Werewolf From London.
Inglourious Basterds- I have anticipation for this movie but from the trailer, I know there won't be a middle ground, I'll either like or not.

1. Shutter Island- of course; Marty is the s***
2. Public Enemies- in my opinion, it does not look GREAT, but i read the script and it's good enough. plus Depp is great (no nod for this i foresee though).
3. Tree of Life- i am officially intrigued
4. Amelia- Mira Nair is a very underrated director. Monsoon Wedding is an excellent film in my opinion. I'm hoping she gets some recognition for this film.
5. The Road- because it's got all the makings to be my kind of film
6. The Human Factor- Eastwood always makes solid films; plus Freeman as Nelson Mandela is such perfect casting that it was incredibly obvious he would be casted in the film. Nonetheless, i see solid written all of this one.
7. Inglorious Basterds- the trailer does not look at all good in my opinion, however, i have anticipated this film for awhile, so i will not change anything at this point.
8. Sherlock Holmes- NOT Oscar material, but i love Guy Ritchie films and i'm sure this will not disappoint
9. Taking Woodstock- just a great subject matter.
10.Nine- i generally dislike musicals, but this one is just so damn enticing.

Harry, i've seen a stage production of Nine and don't worry, Fergie was cast perfectly. It's a small but very entertaining role that's 80% sexy singing (she's a hooker) and 20% acting. Unless they've retooled her role for the film (which i can't imagine) she's around just enough to like her but not enough to get annoying. I'm really pumped about this movie!
