I have been attending the AFI Dallas Film Festival since Thursday and I hade the chance to see these films. Some are def ones to look out for next season.

THE BROTHERS BLLOM- A more comedic effort from Rian Johnson. Ruffalo was great but Rinko kikuchi stole the show. If the supp actress category is weak, she could sneak in, but i think the may 15th release date dooms her chances. overall, its an entertainer, but not oscar bait like brick.

ROCK PROPHECIES- hopefully this makes the documentary short list. it focuses on the work of rock n roll photographer robert m knight. a great documentary.

LYMELIFE- i could see this getting attention at the indie spirit awards. keiran culkin does the best job, and jill hennessey has presence. a subtle comedic drama a la noah baumbach

THE BURNING PLAIN- this is guillermo arriaga's directorial debut. wow!!!! it is getting released in september. i am truly hoping it is eligible for oscars even tho it was released in europe last year. kim basinger and charlize theron give amazing performances.
