So I was on wikipedia (i know, i know) and it says that it was discovered that Jai Ho was written for a different film, Yuvvraaj. I looked at the track listing and for Yuvvraaj and it doesn't have Jai Ho so is this a Come What May type situation? It also says that the Award can't be taken back yet we all know what happened with Young Americans

Yuvraaj, is a Hindi film for which Rahman produced the music. Most of the Indian films, if not all of them, have 3 or more songs during the course of the film. Just like a musical. So Jai Ho was a song that A.R.Rahman had already written and had asked the director of the film Yuvraaj if he could use the song in his movie. But he said no cuz it wasn't in tune with the movie. So when Slumdog came along, it was more suited for it. So the somg was never used before Slumdog, although it was written way before Slumdog was in shooting. I am Indian and even I didn't understand how these things worked then i dug deeper and undersstood. It's really confusing. Jai Ho was just a lucky song. Nothing great.

If what you say is true Dpac then it should have been disqualified and it should have its oscar taken away. Come What May was disqualified because it was written for, but not used in, William Shakespeare's Romeo+Juliet and not written for Moulin Rouge!
