I just saw it last night and it was excellent. Its strange how you never hear about it. The visuals were stunning and it was a pretty smart sci fi film.

I'm definitely recommending it to people

I thought it was a severely flawed masterpiece, it was only a good movie but it could have been amazing, the premise and design of the film were great but the second half of the film became a slasher film full of unnecessary style.

I'm still wondering why they resorted to that. Many people have complained about that. I had caught the ending on tv before seeing the entire movie so it wasn't a surprise and didn't have much of an effect on me.

I'd like to know what the screenwriter and Danny Boyle were thinking when they put that ending in it (I'm not saying it was bad, but obviously it was an out of left field ending for the movie). -But still really liked the movie overall.

I really hope they didn't put that ending in just to satisfy an audience that loves a slasher/horror film.

Agreed Andrew. Sunshine could have been one of the best sci-fi films in the last twenty years or so, but the last third just turned it into a slasher that didn't know when to stop. Dont get me wrong, I loved the movie and thought the visuals were excellent. But Alex Garland has a way of taking brilliant and innovative premises and turning them from very thought provoking works into overlong slasher films (ex. 28 Days Later)

I also loved the score and cinematographhy and I think the film got screwed over because of marketing problems and it being delayed for a while. Hopefully this will get the following it deserves and come back with a vengenance happy.gif

If there's one thing I've learned concerning Danny Boyle it's that he's most talented at creating fantastic moments in films.

This goes for both "Slumdog Millionaire" and especially "Sunshine", both of which suffered to great extents otherwise. "Sunshine" has a fantastic premise, is extremely well-made concerning the extent of the budget, and very well-directed.

However, I completely agree with Andrew in that the slasher-like ending completely took me out of the moment of the film and ultimately ruined what could have been an incredible piece of film making.

I'm going to go further than just placing the blame on screenwriter Alex Garland, especially since I think that "Slumdog" is very similar to both "28 Days Later" and "Sunshine" in this respect.
