I know I'll probably catch hell for this but...it looks very amateur and unoriginal. I think DiCaprio was probably miscast(plus that accent is rather annoying). It basically looks like The Ring, Gothika and The House on Haunted Hill thrown together. I must say the trailer is disappointing. I really don't see this film as an oscar contender. Am I the only one who feels let down????? |

The script is phenomenal and this IS NOT A HORROR FILM AT ALL. There is nothing scary about this unless you find mental patients scary...trailer looks amazing, film is gonna be amazing, I;m calling out early that Jackie Earl Haley has a great shot at winning supp actor sort of as a double reward for this film and Watchmen even though he is only in one scene in this film, the role is bait bait bait as the trailer shows. Leo is also the clear frontrunner in my opinion and he looks AMAZING in this and the most meaty scenes he has aren't even showed in the trailer. Some are but most are too spoiler prone. |

Haven't read the script, but judging by the trailer, the story, the cast, and the talent behind it, I think that this is going to be a HUGE contender this year...
I think that everything about this film looks phenomenal, from the performances to the production values.
My friend Andrew and I have been championing Leo for his performance in this film ever since we heard about the plot details and the type of character he plays. I am amazed that the trailer is as good as it is...
A similar thing happened to me when I first saw "The Departed", in that I couldn't believe how much the film exceeded my expectations.
After this trailer, my bar has been set at a new level, and I hope the film reaches that peak.
By the way, while some elements of the trailer may play like a horror film, that could be because of the dark lighting (seen quite often in a number of films, both horror and non-horror) and the way some of the trailer has been put together. In my opinion, this probably won't play like anything close to a horror film... |

i can honestly say that i am not particularly impressed by this trailer. however, i am still rotting for it and hope Leo can pull in his first Oscar. |

I don't put any stock at all into trailers nowadays. Trailers are not made for people that visit movie blogs and web sites. The studio knows full well that people like us are going to see a movie with this director and with this cast no matter what. That trailer was made for the people who had no idea about this movie before yesterday. I remember the trailers for Atonement, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood and it gave off an entirely different vibe than the actual movies (thank goodness).
The Road is another trailer this year that makes it seem like an action movie but I am willing to bet that it is far from the movie the trailer indicates it is. | |
