currently being featured at The Oscar Hut with a slightly in depth analysis of my reasoning for those who are interested. If not here's my top 10 minus the analyzing. And for all of those idiots out there who think that crap will be filling out the top 10 this year, listed here are about 32 films most of which have been touted as ones to watch for by many of the users of these forums. So, like I said at The Oscar Hut and in other topics, the 10 film nominee plan is not a stupid one since the competition is wide open now with over 30 competing for 10 spots.
My Predictions:
Avatar
Funny People
The Hurt Locker
Invictus
The Lovely Bones
Nine
Public Enemies
Precious
Shutter Island
Up
Other Possibilities Include:
Amelia
An Education
Antichrist
Biutiful
Bright Star
Broken Embraces
Brothers
Cheri
Fish Tank
Green Zone
The Immaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
The Informant
Inglorious Basterds
Julie & Julia
The Last Station
A Prophet
The Road
A Serious Man
Star Trek
The Tempest
Where The Wild Things Are
Within The Whirlwind |

...with ten nominations, The Hangover now has a shot at best picture. |

I don't really see how the "Oprah factor" helps Precious. It certainly didn't do Dreamgirls any favors. |

The Hangover? Seriously? Just because there are ten nominations doesnt mean that a zeitgeist summer comedy about a Vegas bachelor party-gone-wrong will even come close to being considered. I know your not happy with this new decision but that doesnt mean that you should make a careless comment like that. Your better than that. The Hangover? Seriously?
Grow up you child. |

First of all, you shouldn't really be calling John Travolta a child...you're the one who posted anonymous.
Having said that, I don't think that "The Hangover" has much of a chance at getting a BP nod. If any mainstream comedy has a chance, I think that it's "Funny People" this year. |

1.) Nine (best director nod, Rob Marshall)
2.) The Lovely Bones (best director nod, Peter Jackson)
3.) Invictus
4.) Amelia (best director nod, Mira Nair)
5.) The Road
6.) Up
7.) Bright Star (best director nod, Jane Campion)

Possible nom:
Bitiful
Star Trek (if they want to include a fan favorite)
The Wolf Man
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Broken Embraces
DARK HORSE Antichrist (it would generate huge buzz for the show. plus, it would be nice to see the somewhat conservative academy go for such a film) |
