I think Nine will be the nomination leader and I think Dion Beebe who was nominated for Chicago and won a Oscar for Memoirs Of A Geisha, will recieve a cinematography Oscar nod for Nine. When I saw the trailer, that was one of the first things I noticed was the cinematography.

Even if the studio behind Julie & Julia pushes for Streep to go lead, the academy could vote for her as supporting -- we all saw what happened to Winslet last year. -- and I know this point could also be used against me, but I really feel with her other film coming out Christmas time that her role in Julie & Julia is better for a supporting catergory

I do not see why there is no distributor for Within The Whirlwin yet. What the heck is going on. It's possibly Watson's best ever, and they are slow for a distributor ? Rarely am I moved by a trailer and I was was in that one. You'd have to be crazy to think if that film gets even a meager 09 release, that Emily Watson's chances at a Oscar nod wouldn't be high. As for Depp in Public Enemies... I have already forgot about that movie. Not that I didn't like it, just had no real effect or impact on me including the acting from Depp.

Entertainment Weekly made a rather bold prediction this last week, saying that the Oscar is Meryl's to lose this year. I couldn't agree more, and I think she could quite easily win in either category. Placement's not going to matter. She'll be the frontrunner regardless. I think it'll ultimatly end up landing her in the Lead Actress category. We have to remember that the film garnered such good reviews mostly in part to her, and it's also the same situation we saw in 2006 for "The Devil Wears Prada."

it is too early to make these calls. meryl could be snubbed this year for all we know. we haven't seen none of the other performances. this alone just tells me ppl don't care about performance, but about status/career achievements.

Gainsbourg is not getting nominated even if she wins every critic award under the sun. It is not AMPAS friendly. They will find lesser, and baitier performances to turn to. And Meryl is going lead.

meryl streep will be nominated for lead actress in Julie & Julia. and i think she might just win. her performance is getting rave reviews, she plays an icon rather convincingly (lots of heart and soul) and she is way, way overdue for an oscar win.
