Is there anyone that saw Inglourious Basterds that think the ending was stupid ? I didn't mind it but the friend I saw it with thought is was one of worst endings to a movie. He liked the first 3/4th but said the ending was awful.

I also want to put Robert Richardson's name on the cinematography list as I thought the camera work in IB was outstanding. Nobody has really mentioned the cinematography. Film had some memorable shots.

I think the ending was absolutely genius. Brilliant perfect way to end it, and he more then deserved to say that at the end. The end was funny, shocking and perfect in tone with the characters and story. I think you may be in the ultra minority here because I've seen the film 3 times now and everytime the theater is absolutely so into the ending they all burst into applause when Aldo pulls out his knife and cheer/cringe during the carving. The cinematography for the film is genuinely amazing as well Richardson is legendary. All the spaghetti western shots in the opening are particularly incredible.

Same for my theater. Everyone pretty much loved it. Hell, I even applauded and I never do that at the movies.

the reaction was the same in my theater. however, I thought that the ending was the most self indulgent ending to a film that I have ever seen. i'm sorry, Quentin is good, but please, do not tell me that this film is your masterpiece. if it is your masterpiece, i think we should be able to figure that out and not be told it.

and i'm sorry, but do not make a "historical" film about WWII and have a certain someone killed by the basterds. i mean, aside from the what should be considered copyright infringements, "Pulp Fiction" was very good, but c'mon Quentin, you are going overboard with your ridiculousness (however "Basterds" was tame compared to "Death Proof.")

I liked the ending and the fact that a certain someone was killed by the basterds. In a Tarantino movie I want to be entertained not history lectured. And I certainly was entertained.

Don't know why people are complaining about the "historical accuracy." The Basterds and the majority of the central characters in this film didn't exist so you should have hated the film from the opening credits.

Exactly Tony. QT stuff is off the wall. He admits it, you have to go in thinking on going along with the fiction of the story. I didn't mind the way the ending went. I'm sure there are a few Jewish people that may have wished it really went down like that. After all, it's only entertaiment. It just a movie. Why do people get so serious over QT's movies ? The thing that always gets me, is you have some people complain there's too much violence, now you get this movie where the violence is more spread out and now you hear gripes where the dialogue is too much. These people just like to bitch about every little thing. I thought it is the 2nd best flick of the year.
