Clint Eastwood (Million Dollar Baby) and Bruno Ganz (Downfall) are missing in the Best Actor race.
I wish there was more love for Ray, House of Flying Daggers, The Motorcycle Diaries and The Sea Inside. Also, Downfall and Les Choristes which were completely shut out. Loved all of them.
I really like the Best Picture lineup. 5 Really Good Films. I was surprised and happy with the Kill Bill Vol. 2 nominations. Amazing film.
I'm also really happy with the Finding Neverland nominations. I loved that film.
And I'm rooting for Eternal Sunshine to win Best Picture.

Few things here and there not happy with but this is the first time I've actually been happy with the nods...makes me so happy to see all the Kill Bill love

I'm not the hugest fan of Sean Penn but his acting in The Assasination Of Richard Nixon is sublime. I can't believe he wasn't Oscar nominated for that. EASILY his best performance in front of the camera. The best portrayal of a man with the wheels ever so slowly coming off in a long time. Too bad hardly anyone saw it.

First off, let me reiterate the current sentiments that the Kill Bill love is nice to see, especially recognition for dearly departed David Carradine. However, I wish The Incredibles was nominated for Best Picture, truly my absolute favorite Pixar film. Also a little upset with Sideways not being nominated for Best Picture, but Alexander Payne is for director; wish that was switched.

I expected "Kill Bill Vol. 1" to get a lot of noms, not neccesarily Vol. 2...
I definitely didn't anticipate all those nominations for "Finding Neverland," especially for Best Picture and the Supporting nom for Kate Winslet. What's really odd is that Johnny Depp was snubbed.
I think it's really a shame that a lot of smaller performances like Jeff Bridges in "The Door in the Floor" and Laura Dern in "We Don't Live Here Anymore" weren't recognized. All of the noms seemed to come from the really big movies and the ones that weren't ("Sideways" and "Vera Drake") were really high profile that year.
Is it probably fair to guess that Nicole Kidman vote-split with herself for "Dogville" and "Birth"? I really expected her to make it in. Best Actress was a great field, though, so I really can't complain. Well...yes I can...Uma Thurman. Just let her win in 2003 and spread the love.
I was also kinda bummed at the lack of love for "Hotel Rwanda." I loved that movie, but I seem to be the only person who thinks it was more than just okay.

Still not sure why Jamie Foxx has two nominations. I wouldn't give him the win for Best Actor, probably still a nomination. But supporting? Tom Cruise was SO much better and therefore should have been nominated. I'm not a Cruise fan at all, either.
And we know many think she's overpraised, but where's Meryl Streep is supporting? What a chilling turn in Manchurian Candidate. Plus, the film was a great re-invisioning of a classic. IT'S NOT A REMAKE for those who still can't seem to appreciate it.

I agree that Cruise is better then Foxx in the film but I think Foxx is even ebtter in Collateral then he was in Ray and since his spot for Ray in lead was obviously taken...he deserved that supporting nod.

...or since you think his performance in "Collateral" is better than his in "Ray" (and I agree wth you), couldn't we just not give him the nod in lead for "Collateral" instead of "Ray"? Not everything is about getting these people as many nominations as possible.
