New to Air gunning.Where can I get a book on starting.
by
Hi.
I am new to Air Gunning, and a lot of the adverts I see don't make much sense because I don't understand the jargon. For instance...12 ft Lbs ? CO2 capsules. Under lever action, bolt action, What is best ?
Scopes..3-20+40 ? There must be a book that can start me off from scratch? Where do I find it?
Thanks in advance
Alan.

Hi, I'm an avid airgun collector/shooter on Long Island (New York) and a frequent visitor/trader on Brad Troy's airguns.net over the last several years.
At any rate, I have a Scorpion in hard to find .22 caliber which may be of interest to you.
It is complete with all original accessories and packaging. I have not shot it very much, inasmuch as I own two other Scorpions, (which my two teenage sons and I enjoy).
The gun has been used, but not abused, and I would subjectively rate the metal components as 88-90% condition and the composite handle/stock, the same.
I believe that $200, inclusive of shipping to you (I'm assuming you are in the continental USA) would be a fair price.
Pls. let me know if you are interested.
Regards,
Matt Spigner

I had one of these years ago when they were first released and remember how much I loved that pistol even though it was a tad on the heavy side. Mine had asilencer but cant remember what make it was and it also had a skeleton sock that attached to a modified grip base plate and I believe that it was made as an optional extra by BSA themselves. Any how if you were tosell it how much would you be thinking of asking for it?.
Best wishes
Jason

I was in the shower earlier and thinking.. damn I need to do something with that pistol of mine.
So I got to thinking of what I want to do...
1. Paint it black (the "silver" is CRAP)
2. Do something about this horribal trigger
3. Shave some parts of it, remove crosman logos, etc.
4. Convert somehow into a CO2 line which I could run into a normal 9oz or some other small tank
used for paintball (this 20-30 good shots then it dies thing I can't stand...)
5. Add a stock like this on it, then try to mount the CO2 either in the middle of it, or under
it... http://www.crosman.com/portal/prodlist.nsf/productdetail?openform&itemnumber=1399
Now this is what I need. First, any ideas or advice... I need to find a stock that would fit my
gun (I can make holes through the thing if I need to) and how I could do the CO2 conversion
corectelly. I also need some tips about the trigger, it's HORRIBAL!
Also, does anyone have any pictures of what this model, or a similar model looks like inside?
Anyone in here ever open one up? Last time I opened up a gun (some cheap spring rifle) the parts
shot out and I never got it back together, and I can't have that happening to this thing!

I'm new to pellet guns, but I recall having seen one that looks like a sniper rifle. I am interested in an airgun that
-looks somewhat like a sniper rifle (with bipod)
-has clips
-gets in the 900-1000fps range
-doesn't use compressed air or C02
Thanks

Subject: Crosman 1100 Shot Shells
I am interested in obtaining some additional shot shells for a Crosman 1100 and a modified pistol which uses the same shells. Could you please advise the cost and how I can order them? Are there any variations (e.g., shot size) available? Also, do you offer “reloading” components for these shells?
I could make payment via credit card, money order or Paypal – whichever is most convenient for you.

I have a Slavia model 618 .177 air rifle made in Czechoslovakia with wooden stock. No serial numbers I could find.
I also have a Benjamin Franklin 130 pistol, wooden pump handle and wooden grips, no serial number visible here either, and I've gone over it with a magnifying glass.
Can anyone tell me the approximate age of either or both of these?
Thanks.

Hope I can help ya a bit here. I got hung-up on these little buggers, cause they are well made and conform to the standards set by European manufactures for "entry level or "Boys Rifles". Some are suprisinglly accurate, though low on velocity ( in the mid 400fps ranges in.177 cal.).Nonetheless Q/C is pretty good, and with the models evolution, can make up a neat collection of the different variations! They are rugged as hell, and could last a lifetime given good care.
The 618's ran from around the late 60's thru nearly the end of the 70's far as I can find out. A number of updates took place during the little rifles evolution, then apparentlly, CZ decided to switch model numbers to identify the upgrades. The subsiquent model's 620, 622, and 624.
A few of the latter models came in both .177 and .22, but from owning one, you can see how enemic a .22 would be...
There were variants within the 618 model run, some with scope grooves (for the diminutitave 4X CZ scope, which is nearly unattainable!). I have what's called a "Raven-18", apparentlly it's an old but more refined, scope grooved variant.
Engineering changes and modifications are suttle bit in the final year('s?) the rifle had a breechbolt with a lock screw instead of a thrubolt with a simple lock nut, and little points like the quality of Blueing, eventual deletion of the front sight hood and trigger guard metal thickness diminished as production costs rose. Sitll, in the end the little rifles were a very good value and could still be counted upon to be accurate andlast nearly forever with proper owner respect and car
There seems to also be a division within the basic 618 line-up which has a more dense (nicelly highlighted grain with suttle differences in length and contours) stock and a different BBL. (I call this variation the "LUX", lacking a better or correct model designation for it.)
I have never seen a CZ rifle for sale in a store here in the US and can't attest to any 618 pricing differences between these sub-models, OK?
Overall, the 618-624 series represents CZ's commitment to offer an upper Mid-Grade (by European Standards) Entry level/Boys Rifle to compete with German and British offerings. They sold, probablly in the Millions, worldwide, and good specimens can still be found. Prices I have seen, vary between $12CD to $65USD, so it's a crapshoot on what you can value yours at. Be satisfied, if it looks good, shoots good, and has given you good service. Set your own price accordinglly, but prepare to be offered little, for the rifle if you sell it. Just aren't many 619 affictionados around...

Perhaps the easiest would be your Local Hardware Store, Some have an astounding array of small parts screws, springs washers etc! I've had really good luck at my Local Ace Hardware for finding Metric stuff.
CZ has just improved their factory site, there is an airgun section, also a contact address, I haven't tried em yet, but hopefully they've improved their service!Just do a General search for CZ on the net, and the new site address should show...
For CZ 618 rewplacement parts, you could contact Lewis Reinhold Owner of Beemans Austrailia. He has complete Piston seals and many CZ-618repair parts. Lweis is a really nice guy and is very familliar with the breed!
Also you can try Chambers Gunmakers in the UK.They're usually pretty high priced tho.
The little CZ's are fun guns! Hope you can get yours fixed thru one of these hints!

I have a Benjamin Air Rifles, St Louis USA Model 132 airgun with the serial number B286089. It was a Benjamin HC High Compression model. Externally, it is untouched, in fair to good condition. Internally it was professionally rebuilt 4 years ago and has been shot maybe 25 times since. It is remarkably accurate. Can you tell me anything about the gun? Approximate age or value perhaps? Any information would be most appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mike
