Popstar Robbie Williams: 'I've been visited by aliens'
In a move that's even madder than releasing a pants album called Rudebox and thinking anyone would want to buy it, Robbie Williams has revealed he's about to quit his pop career... to become a full-time UFO chaser!
Williams, currently on strike from record label EMI, was being interviewed by singer Joss Stone when he made the weird confession, telling her he'd been visited by little green men three times.
Said Blobby: "Seriously, I want to go out and investigate these things. I'm stopping being a pop star and being a full-time ufologist.
"We could be like Mulder and Scully in real life," he told her. "You're always mega-busy, but I've got nothing on at the minute."
The Blobster added that the first time he'd seen a UFO was when he was a kid, but had had two other "close encounters" that were more recent......

Robbie will see life thru a lens
Published: 13 Mar 2008
ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ obsession with extra-terrestrials has just jumped to lightspeed.
The beardy pop nob has been spending his free time — which is about 18 hours, seven days a week — visiting observatories in the Arizona desert.
Rob has been peering through telescopes looking into space for signs of life on other planets.
Surely writing a new album is more important than staring at the heavens like eccentric, xylophone-playing Sky At Night TV host PATRICK MOORE?
Robbie has been visiting the National Optical Astronomy Observatories in Tucson, Arizona, pictured above, to do his star gazing.
He has become so obsessed with his new hobby he is planning to buy an observatory — a mere snip at £2.5million.
More money than sense, eh?
A source said: “Some of Robbie’s acquaintances in LA have been having a chuckle at his expense.
“He is leading a bizarre existence at the moment — vanishing into the desert to look at stars in far-flung galaxies. He is dead set on buying himself his own observatory in the desert. He is hooked on all things from outer space.”
I always thought Robbie was wired to the moon. The singer based his 2006 Close Encounters concert tour on UFOs.
And in the last few months he has got friendly with crackpot ex-sports presenter DAVID ICKE, who believes key world leaders, including GEORGE W BUSH and TONY BLAIR are reptilian aliens disguised as humans.
Ghosts
Robbie also appeared on radio last week to talk about three dramatic sightings he has had of UFOs in LA — and his desire to hang up his mic to study aliens after his ET experiences.
Robbie said: “I’m stopping being a pop star. I’m going to be a ufologist.”
He says he also believes the cult of Scientology “exists” and thinks ghosts “are other worlds”.
He added: “I was lying on my sun lounger outside at night. Above me was a square thing that passed over my head silently and shot off.”
That was me, Robbie. I was launching copies of Rudebox at your gaff after 12 pints of Guinness...

Robbie Williams' close encounter with programme-maker Ronson
Ben Dowell
The Guardian, Friday April 11 2008
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/apr/11/radio.bbc
BBC Radio 4 is to air a documentary about UFOs co-presented by the unlikely pairing of the pop star Robbie Williams and the documentary-maker Jon Ronson.
The pair have collaborated on Robbie Williams and Jon Ronson Journey to the Other Side, in which they visit a UFO conference in Laughlin, Nevada, for three days.
Radio 4 will broadcast the 30-minute documentary on May 6.
A Radio 4 source said that Williams and Ronson "formed a close and, some would say, unlikely friendship" during the course of making the programme earlier this year.
The source added that Williams approached the station with the idea because of his interest in the subject of extraterrestrial life and because he was a "fan of Radio 4".
Radio 4 listeners will hear Williams and Ronson meet a doctor who claims to have 15 metallic objects that are "not earthly".
They also encounter a British woman, Ann Andrews, who believes that her youngest son, Jason, is an "indigo child" - an infant abducted by extraterrestrials while in the womb and sent back to Earth to save the planet.
The documentary was recorded on location over three days in Los Angeles, where Williams lives, and Nevada.
Journey to the Other Side's subject matter is familiar territory for Ronson. But his choice of a celebrity sidekick marks a departure for the programme-maker, who made his name with his television documentaries, mainly for Channel 4, about bizarre aspects of human life.
These have included the Channel 4 documentaries The Double Life of Jonathan King in 2002 and Crazy Rulers of the World, which Ronson made in 2004.
Williams, a former singer with the boyband Take That, has enjoyed global chart success as a solo artist since he left the group in 1995 with hit songs such as Millennium, Rock DJ and Angels.
Robbie Williams and Jon Ronson Journey to the Other Side was made by White Pebble Media, the independent production company run by Laura Parfitt, wife of Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt.

Rob's fascinated by paranormal
By CAROLINE IGGULDEN
Published: Today
ROBBIE WILLIAMS used to love angels, but instead another flying phenomenon is taking up his time.
The pop star has developed an obsession with aliens.
He is so fascinated that he recently jetted to a UFO convention in Nevada to pursue his hobby.
At the US conference 34-year-old Robbie revealed he had retreated into paranormal investigation to fill a “void” in his life and escape the pressures of fame....
...Since finishing a world tour 18 months ago, Robbie has vanished from public view.
The star spends hours holed up in his LA mansion researching UFOs on the net and watching DVDs about alien conspiracies.
Earlier this week The Sun printed pictures showing how the former pin-up has ballooned.
Under his multimillion pound record deal with EMI, Robbie was expected to release a new album this autumn. That seems to be on hold as he focuses his attention skyward.
Robbie goes on to tell how he and Ayda spend hours on his balcony staring at the heavens. At the conference he meets Nick Pope, who has been dubbed the UK’s answer to X-Files character Fox Mulder.
Nick once headed the Ministry of Defence unit responsible for investigating UFO sightings in UK airspace and was in Nevada to address the conference.
He says: “Robbie emailed me to let me know he was going to the conference and asked if we could meet. He started his email, ‘Hi, it’s Robbie Williams (the singer)’. Embarrassingly, I walked straight past Robbie because he looked so different.
“He looked like some sort of Cuban revolutionary. It was him who spotted me. He’s a nice guy with a genuine interest in the subject. And he certainly isn’t the first pop star to take an interest in the paranormal.
“JOHN LENNON famously claimed to have seen a UFO and David Bowie has long been fascinated by the subject.”
Robbie’s visit to the Nevada conference was recorded by broadcaster Jon Ronson — who specialises in winning the trust of people with different beliefs — for a Radio 4 documentary....

Even a pop star obsessed by UFOs can turn out to be charming and witty
The big question of the week was not "Did Ken always look this much like Ethel Merman?" but "Is Robbie Williams properly mental?". Robbie Williams and Jon Ronson Journey to the Other Side (6 May, 6.30pm, Radio 4) arrived sequinned and tinselled with a fanfare of trailers and even a more or less complete transcript in the Guardian, like things to do with Richard Nixon.
After reading Ronson's excellent 2001 book Them: Adventures With Extremists, Williams emailed Ronson asking him to find a haunted house where the two of them might spend a night. The plan fell through only when Williams remembered that he had 59 international stadium gigs pencilled on his roster, but he later invited Ronson to come with him to the International UFO Congress in Laughlin, Nevada, instead...

This is the official Blog of Aidan Dickens, creator of Melbourne hard rock/metal band ‘Azumuth’. This is a general blog in which I will be offering my thoughts and feelings about anything and everything that I am interested in. This in turn relates to my music because, of course, it influences what I write the music about. From UFO’s to other bands I like or whatever, this blog has it all!

New UFO documentary by Robbie Williams
"...It turns out Robbie is quite fascinated by the subject, and describes having several very trippy UFO experiences over the course of his life. The second event he describes reminds me of the Phoenix Lights in Arizona, but with an occult twist to it, which is why it fascinates me so much. For me, non-traditional UFO experiences are by far the most interesting....."

Brit Singer Camps In Search of E.T.
http://www.backpacker.com/blogs/252
Some of us camp for solitude, silence, and to commune with nature. Others enjoy getting off the grid as a challenge to test their personal and physical limits. Still others simply enjoy testing shiny new gear.
Guess what? We're all suckers: We should be camping to find aliens and UFOs.
Then we'd be like British singer Robbie Williams, who allegedly enjoys gallivanting in the California wilderness near his L.A. home to search for signs of extraterrestrial life, according to The Sun, the U.K.'s last bastion of high-quality reportage. They even found a source who was generous enough to share anonymous information about Williams' new camping habit. Imagine that.
“Rob has been taking pals out to the woods for long weekends. He wants to live like a cowboy in a Western. He also has a fascination with UFOs and thinks he has more chance of seeing one away from LA’s bright lights.”
Supposedly, Williams has purchased "a tent, cooking gear, sleeping bag, survival equipment and all the best outdoor threads," for his outdoor adventures. Unfortunately, they don't specify whether he went for ultralight over pack right, eVent over Gore-Tex, or down over synthetic. Hopefully Robbie found time to consult our Editor's Choice gear list or use BACKPACKER.com's Gear Finder before embarking on his exobiological expedition.
In a rare break from classy British journalism, the gossip piece insults Williams and his new hobby, calling him a "beardy pop knob," "oddball," "paranoid lump," and "camp as a row of tents."
Ignore the haters, Robbie, and welcome to the fold. We'll camp with you anytime — UFOs or not.

http://music.hollyscoop.com/robbie-williams/robbie-williams-turns-down-%C2%A3-15-million-for-performance_856.aspx
Robbie Williams is a strange bird. He just turned down £ 1.5 million to play a show, but is declining because he doesn't want to play live shows anymore. Instead, he wants to search for UFO's with none other than Lilly Allen. What is it with the Brits? Amy is back on the wagon for a week, and someone else takes her place as the crazy English popstar!
Robbie recently posted a message on his blog saying he has no desire to return to playing live because his last one almost killed him. He's taken a sudden interest in UFO's and who better than to stare at the sky with (while probably on something), than Lilly Allen? Musicians are a strange breed these days. | |
