Among the interviewees is Donald Keyhoe, captioned thus:

"Former Marine Air Corps Major Donald Keyhoe, director of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, conducted an investigation of the existence of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Keyhoe talks to Wallace about the United States military, reports of UFO sightings, the various theories explaining UFOs, government cover-ups, and the possibility of interplanetary war."

Mike Wallace rose to prominence in 1956 with the New York City television interview program, Night-Beat, which soon developed into the nationally televised prime-time program, The Mike Wallace Interview. Well prepared with extensive research, Wallace asked probing questions of guests framed in tight close-ups. The result was a series of compelling and revealing interviews with some of the most interesting and important people of the day.

The Mike Wallace Interview ran from 1957 to 1960, but the Ransom Center collection includes interviews from only 1957 and 1958. In the early 1960s, Mr. Wallace donated to the Ransom Center kinescopes of these programs and related materials, including his prepared questions, research material, and correspondence.

In his 1960 book 'Flying Saucers: Top Secret,' Donald Keyhoe details a meeting he had with Gloria Swanson, a member of NICAP, who had '..made no secret of her belief in flying saucers...'

The Mike Wallace interview with Gloria Swanson is dated April 28th 1957, and his interview with Donald Keyhoe is from March 8th 1958. The meeting between Major Keyhoe and Ms.Swanson took place circa-November 1957. Outside of her film stardom and theatre/tv work, Gloria Swanson was also well-known for her advocacy of healthy eating. In the Wallace interview there is also reference to support she gave to independent cancer research. Outside of the content of chapter IX of 'Flying Saucers: Top Secret,' there doesn't seem to be extensive documentation in existence related to Ms.Swanson's interest in flying saucers; but what information I do have suggests that her connection to the subject is significant.

WALLACE: Are you going to...? -- Do you believe that you will find your completeness after life?

ROTH: Oh well, I certainly hope and I feel like I'm on the verge of some discovery and I don't like to delve too much because I don't want to go back to Bloomingdale's, they’ll say this gal is odd, but I know that Lecomte du Noüy - you recall the book that fascinated me so, the physicist that wrote “Human Destiny,” he said that the odd person of today is just the normal person, you know a century from now when you have these dreams and ideals. And I think all those wonderful stars and planets that we're trying to reach so hard, we're going to sit all around them one day in the hereafter and those will be the different stages until we'll reach our final place.
