A UFO dropped in on Barack Obamas inauguration ceremony, it was claimed last night.

News footage captured a shadowy object flashing across the sky before the new Presidents speech.

The high-speed object appears to streak behind the Washington Monument and then disappear into the clouds.

The CNN clip, featuring veteran US broadcaster Wolf Blitzer, has attracted thousands of hits on video-sharing website YouTube.

UFO experts are convinced it shows an alien craft speeding behind the 555ft-high monument but sceptics say it was a bird or a bat.

Enthusiast Nick Pope said: We know it is not an aircraft because a strict no-fly zone was imposed over the area.

It seems to have been going a little bit too fast for any type of bird.

During the election run-up, UFO bloggers claimed mysterious orbs were spotted over an Obama rally in Chicago.

Calls for him to release all information held on UFOs attracted over 170,000 votes on his new online Citizen Briefing Book last week more than any other subject.

Mr Pope said: Despite the economic downturn and the conflict in Afghanistan, the number one topic people were pressuring the President over was UFOs. It proves this is more than a fringe issue.

Greetings, Obama: we come in peace

THE CNN tape shows it clearly. During the inauguration of President Barack Obama last month, a panoramic camera shot of the Washington monument recorded a small, dark object racing across the sky. Was it a bird? Was it a plane? Or was it an emissary from an alien planet?

Internet opinion has been predictably divided What kind of birds can fly at 500mph? asked one of several million viewers who have seen the video clip.........

If you are a Bruce Springsteen fan, you must get the new box set of Born to Run 30th Anniversary. There's a DVD in it called Wings for Wheels and chapter 2 has a sky shot between interviews where for 2 seconds it shows a disc and another dark object flying toward a cloud.

This box set will probably be seen by a lot of Bruce fans and I may be the first to have noticed this. When watching the interview and then I saw that, I said what was that? Why is it included in this batch of music and interviews?

So I used the pause feature going back and you can clearly see the disc and the object in excellent quality. It made this box set worth every penny. I wonder if the editor who viewed this knew it was there or just decided to leave it in to see if anyone notices. I did.
