Nice to see someone post on the forum.
If you are just starting out then Masochist pictures wishes you all the best.
Gory special FX are more my brothers department,but here are some tips.
For bloody bullet hits use latex gloves,fill them with red food coloring (watered down if need be)and then tape them to your actor (or make them wear very tight clothing (very very tight)to hold the squibs in place.
Get some rubber washes (tap washers) and tie a length of floss or fishing line to the washer and then superglue the washer to the blood filled latex glove (now concealed under the clothing,just make small holes for the washer.
When you are ready to shoot the scene pull the other end of the line and watch the fake blood ooze or squirt out.It works a treat,and it's fairly easy to do multiple hits.
No need for dangerous pyrotechnics.
