Run the show please!

Having had discussions with various showing friends, none of us can really see the need for the show to be cancelled this year. In fact, we would lay money on the fact that the entries would not be affected in the slightest by some mad stampede round Windsor Park; showing folk want to show, not fart about with a BHS cavalcade!!!

Please re-consider your decision; Iver is one of the nicer shows during the summer, and it would be a real shame to lose it.

Please let the show go on.

Can we persuade you to change your decision? Offers of help or sponsorship?

I'm sure your entries will not suffer due to the Windsor event. My friends and I are hugely disappointed, we want to come to IVER.

Thank you all very much for your support! We do appreciate that the majority of the dedicated showing people would still come for the HOYS qualifiers, but it is likely to have an effect on local exhibitors and indeed stewards and other helpers, and will have a knock-on effect on the following day.

Iver Show is now organised by a committee of 2, plus a loyal but diminishing band of volunteers on the day. It is always hard to get enough stewards for the show and frankly we can do without extra difficulties. Last year we had to change our date to avoid clashing with Hickstead and this caused us huge problems, resulting in delays getting the schedule out, resulting in lower entries and loss of sponsors. To have this BHS event clashing with us this year seems like the last straw.

Last year we made a loss, for the first time ever I believe, and we can absorb that loss. However, we can't afford to risk making a big loss for a second year running - that would probably mean the end of Iver Horse Show, which would be a shame. At least this way we know that we will be back next year.

We are really sorry to disappoint the people who would have supported us regardless, but we think we have considered all aspects and have made the only decision that we could under the circumstances.

Thank you for taking the trouble to post on this forum - it show us how much people care about Iver. I do hope that you will continue to support Iver Horse Show in the future, although there is a risk that the BSHA (and the BMHS) may decide to allocate their qualifiers elsewhere next year - please ask your friends to drop them a line in support of Iver!!!

I have just seen that the show has been put off until next year!

I like others who have responed really can not see the problem here? I did not realise you had such a small comittee and commend you on the work you have done. I am on another showing committee and can appreciate excatly how much work goes into running an event.

I have been showing at Iver for more years than I can remember, it has a lot of loyal competitors, would it not have been an idea to post on here asking for volunteers to help in an aid to keep the show up and running? I am sure there are plenty of people who would help if they knew it ment the show could go on.

In terms of enteries last year, yes the schedules were late, and I can only speak for myself ( moutain and moorlands) but the judges selected were not the ones to draw in the competitors....this may have been a reason the entries were down? (if you would like some suggestions on popular NPS judges you can let me know and I can email you a list of ones we have used at our shows.

You have the NPS Silver medal classes which are great and usually attracts the entries, but you no longer have the NPS Picton ridden classes?

Thanks M&M. I'd always be pleased to have suggestions for judges, but I have no way of contacting you.

We have found that entries in the novice ridden M&M were better with PUK qualification than with the Picton qualifier - having to be a member of the NPS does cut down on potential entries.

Secretary.

I can always email you and give you my contact details if you would like some suggestions on judges etc.

As for the NPS Qualifiers, ie Pictons etc, you now no longer need to be a member to compete in the class, or show a competition card before entering the class. However if you win you have to show your membership card in order to receive the qualification, if you are not a member then the qualification just goes down the line to the first highest placed member in the top 3. So it does not prevent anyone from entering the class.

Thanks for that information M&M. That's much better if that rule has changed - I'll look into it for next year. Yes, please do email me.

Cheryl, I'll remind you of that next year!

The British Horse Society Cavalcade has now been cancelled, is this to late for you to change your decision and run the show as this is one of the nicest summer show to go to.
