OK. Should not have cut it off at 10. Too many good cars. Here are 10 more............
Here is honorable mention in no particular order..................................
Dale Armstrong's Indy winning Foust and Menzies AA/Alterd Pro Comp 1923 Ford T-bucket (circa 1974). Great tuner, great driver. Too bad Armstrong quit driving, he is making the WWF guys kick butt though! Armstrong is one of the smartest people in drag racing.
Augustas Atkins "Wild Child" SS/C AMC AMX. Have to love AMC guys. It is them against the world! Four speeds are cool too!
The Dale Pulde driven, Mike Hamby tuned Miller Warrior 1985 Buick Somerset AA/FC. A great driver and a cool looking car. Remember an awesome under the lights pass Pulde made at Denver in 1985 with it in night time qualifying. Wheels up to about the 400' mark, Pulde never lifted! Ran 5.63 on the mountain as I recall. Pulde is one of the all time great Funny Car drivers! All of the the "War Eagle" and "Warrior" cars were great! Hard to pick a favorite. The Buick is my favorite.
Danny Townsend's A/Alterd 1932 Austin Bantam. Not a show car but it ran like nobody's business! One of the first aero style roadsters. Rear wheels tucked under the body. Hal Canode chassis. Townsend is a REAL racer! OK. I have a soft spot for alterds.
Buddy Ingersoll's Buick Regal V-6 BB/AT. Incredibly fast for it's time. As fast as a Pro Stock at that time with less cylinders. Ingersoll is one of drag racing's true inovators. I like turbo's, some of the street car guy's I work with hate them.
Rick and Dick Hord's BB/Alterd Corvette Comp car. Love the sound of a blown small block on gas at mega RPM! These guys are serious business men and serious racers.
The Lynwood Wood owned/Randy Adler driven blown 1966 GTO Outlaw Street car. What street car racing should look like. An incredible car that has stayed competitive even as the competition has updated. Hot Rod/NMCA Champion in 1999. The GTO is one of the true muscle cars as well!
Sammy Miller's "Vanishing Point" Vega Rocket Funny Car. Miller holds the quickest elapsed time in drag racing history to this day at 3.74 seconds. Way quicker than any Top Fuel car. Saw him run 3.92 on the clocks at Miami-Hollywood in 1982, one of the most stunning machines I have ever seen in my involvement in motorsports! I miss the rockets!
Dean Thompson's B/A 1923 "T" Ford roadster Comp car (circa 1978). Driven by Wayne Clapp. Motors from Jack Roush and Bob Glidden that year. Runner up to Bobby Cross (Cross & Corzine) for the 1978 NHRA Comp World Championship. The same chassis ran A/EA with a different motor and body combo (Mustang II Funny Car body).
Rich Guasco's "Pure Hell" AA/FA (mid 1960's), always loved the name. Dale Emery was a great driver. The car was one of the great nitro burning alterds of all time!
Should have made it a Top 50 I guess??? Oh well, have fun!! - Aaron
