I attend several national events each year. For the last 2-3 years I have noticed smaller crowds. I am only guessing but 2 things come to mind and they are inter-related. All events are televised on one network or another. Ticket and food costs have risen. Why go to the track and spend large $$$ when you can stay home and watch the event on TV? ONE day at a national event can do serious damage to the wallet if spouses/children are taken. Many tracks no longer allow food or drink to be taken into the seating areas, sure you can walk back out to your car but is that really fan friendly? And don't get me started on the extra $$$ I have to pay for 12 inches of bleacher space. Just my 2 cents.
