If either driver has a foul start or if there is a dual foul infraction, the redlight displays when the timing system determines the first or worse foul infraction. The timing system has been doing this with breakout infractions since a couple of years after the Christmas Tree was introduced in the late Sixties. The FIRST breakout infraction was disqualified for a year or so after the tree was first introduced and the rule was changed after many complaints.
