Response to LIKE WE NEVER LOVED AT ALL ~INTRO~

Johanna was woken by the sound of the telephone on the nightstand by her bed. She glanced up at the alarm clock which read
9:17am. She groaned, wondering why anyone would be calling her hotel room this early in the morning. The front desk maybe? It was a possibility, considering how much her mother worried about her. She rolled over and yawned, stretching as she reached for the phone and picked it up.

"Hello?" She answered softly.

"Hi baby." Chris's voice was smooth and upbeat.

"Hi Chris. What's wrong?" Johanna asked with a touch of urgency in her voice.

"Why does anything have to be wrong to call my girlfriend?" Chris asked. "I just wanted to see what happened to you last night."

Johanna rolled her eyes. "Happened to me? The better question would be what happened to you? I don't recall seeing you at all last night after you and Hunter took off with those..."

"Those what?" Chris asked, using his best innocent sounding voice.

"Those ring rats, Chris." Johanna huffed.

"What those girls? I had nothing to do with them. That's Hunter's bag anyway. Not to keen on the missus lately is my take on it. Besides, why would I want to hang out with them when I got a beau-..."

Johanna shook her head. "Save it Chris, will you? Now, you may not have done anything with them, but what am I supposed to believe when you take off on me prior to the start of the show last night, and don't show your face around me or even call until the next day?"

Chris sighed and went quiet for a
moment. "Listen baby, let me come see you. I'm right down the hall, it'll only take a
minute."

"No." Johanna said bluntly.

"Come on! Why the hell don't you trust me Johanna?"

Johanna smiled and let out a soft chuckle. "Cause you never gave me reason to Chris."

Johanna hung up the phone and sat at the side of the bed, angry at what had just happened. Who the hell was he to act like she was in the wrong? No! He's hurt her too many times to ever give him the benefit of the doubt. Chris loved women, and women loved
Chris..that's all there was to it. She knew this, and had even learned to accept it as a valid reason for his infidelities as of late. But in the past few weeks she was finding that she needed more. She needed to be loved and adored much like those women in those romance novels she read. "Stupid novels! What a waste of time those damn thing are!" She hissed outloud.

The phone rang again and Johanna ripped the phone off of it's cradle.

"What?!" She yelled angrily into the phone.

"Well! Someone is a little grumpy this morning!" Trish laughed.

"Oh Trish, I'm sorry. I thought you were Chr-..I thought you were someone else. What's up?" Johanna asked apologetically.

"I was calling to let you know that there is a meeting in the hotel conference room B downstairs in about an hour. All wrestlers and staff are required to attend. Chris told me he was going to call you, but from the sounds of it, you guys probably never got that far into the conversation."

Johanna could feel Trish smiling on the other end of the phone. Reluctantly she agreed to meet Trish in the Conference Room and even allowed her to save a seat for her. Upon hanging up the phone, Johanna got up, showered, dressed in one of her dark Grey business suits she bought especially for her job, and headed down through the hotel lobby and into the conference room.

------------------

The room was packed with the members of the Raw brand. Johanna looked down at her watch and sighed. damn it! Why did she always have to be early? She surveyed the room of chattering aquaintences as she leaned up against a wall in hopes to blend in with it's drab grey coloring. She watched as more people came barrelling into the crowded room. She watched as the divas, including Trish Stratus (Who apparently let it slip her mind that she was supposed to save Johanna a seat), flirt innocently with the up and coming rookies. She saw as Chris, still obviously upset with what had happened that morning, engaged in a heated conversation with Hunter & Carlito. Though she did not know about what, she assumed by their sporatic glances in her direction that she was the subject of interest. Shaking her head and wondering why she didn't just stay in bed and let the world happily go on without her, she caught the eyes of Glenn, staring at her from across the room. She smiled shyly, and looked down at the ground. Was he really looking at her? Could he really care that she was even in the room? She had convinced herself that he was most likely looking past her at the door, possibly waiting for someone that was more important to him than the likes of her when suddenly, she felt someone approach her. She turned her head up to the right and met her eyes with Glenn's.

"Hi." He said, the sound of his voice making her want to drop through the floor.

"Hello. Nice to see you again." Johanna managed to get out.

"Pretty busy in here, huh? Makes for wantin' to get outta here quick, far as I'm concerned." Glenn looked down at her and
smiled brightly.

Johanna returned the smile. "Yeah, wish we could."

Glenn looked around the room. At this point the meeting was about to commence. He leaned down and whispered into her ear. "Who's to say we can't?"

Johanna closed her eyes and breathed in the scent of his cologne. "Vince?"

Glenn looked over at Vince, who was sorting out the topics of discussion for the morning. He turned back to her and smirked.

"You think he's gonna know any better? Nah. Look, let's bug outta here, get some breakfast or sumthin'. I'll make sure this
whole meeting thing is the last thing on your mind."

Johanna's stomach jumped and her heart beat a few times fast as she processed what he had just said. What did he mean by that? She got a little upset with herself when she realized that she was most likely over-analyzing the situation. The man wanted to go to breakfast with her. Innocent enough, she concluded. She looked across the room at Chris, who was glaring at her at this point. Johanna smiled to herself. Two can play at this game, she thought. She looked at Glenn again, who was
waiting patiently for her answer.

"Sure, let's go. I'm starving!"
