Glenn rounded the car and opened the passenger side door. Reaching in, he gently shook Joanna. "Wake up Jo." He said quietly.
Joanna stirred for a moment then opened her eyes. Turning to Glenn, she smiled warmly. "How long was I out?"
"Only about an hour or so. Come on." Glenn held out his hand and took Joanna's.
Joanna stepped out of the car and took in the surroundings. In front of her about 100 feet away was a crystal blue lake. Off to the right, a wooden, slightly broken down cabin. Shivering from the cool October air, Joanna hugged her arms around herself. "So what is this place?" She asked.
Glenn smiled. "You like it?"
"Sure." Joanna answered.
Glenn held out his hand "Then let's go."
Joanna took his hand and was lead towards an embankment just in front of the water. A blanket was already laid out with various food & drink items resting on top of it. Glenn sat down and gestured for Joanna to do the same. Taking a seat Joanna shot him a strange look. "You know," she said "A secluded lake, a picnic...if I didn't know better I'd think this was a date."
Glenn laughed. "Don't flatter yourself Jo. I just figured you'd be hungry from being in that car for so long."
Joanna knodded. "Yeah I am a little hungry. What time is it anyway?"
"Quarter to 4pm." Glenn answered, after taking a bite of his sandwich.
"Mmm hmm." Jo said acknowledging him. Taking a sandwich for herself, she turned towards the water and took in the scenery. She watched as the sun had already began setting over the horizon and the calm breeze blew around the dead leaves on the ground around them. "It really is beautiful out here. How did you know about this place?"
"See that cabin over there?" Glenn asked, pointing towards it. "It belongs to my family. When I was a kid we'd come up here during summers and stay a few days before heading up north to Canada to visit relatives. I still come here when we are touring in this area. Gives me time to think, ya know? Just seems that whatever is bothering me at the moment goes away when I look towards that water."
"So, dare I ask what's bothering you now?" Jo smirked.
Glenn chuckled. "Absolutely nothing. Just figured you'd want to see this."
Jo sighed contently. "Yeah. Thank you for sharing it with me." She turned to Glenn and smiled. Locking her eyes with his for what she felt was again possibly a bit too long.
"No problem." Glenn answered, glad to have her eyes on him once again.
