Can you change the abysmal mod to suit your own ends?

The title says it all.

A friend and I were wondering if it was at all possible to change the abysmal mod by changing the DATAABYS.TXT. It seems to have all of the things required in a data file.

I specifically tried to change the warriors max dex, because I feel it should be higher than 55 IMHO.

It would be greatly appretiated (SP?), if someone would tell me how to change it, stats, monsters and things.

For instance, wouldn't it be insanely fun to make an Iron man only version of abysmal? Where the monsters drop nothing but magical items? and changing the difficulty so it would be throretically possable to beat diablo, without going to town?

This is a large request, I know. Please dont dismiss me out of hand, just because Im new here. I used to frequent boards such as these, and I know how clickish(lol I cant remember how to spell the word, I spelled it how it sounds, sorry, but I dont have a dictonary handy =-p)
