newbie sorcerer needs help!

i tried abysmal for the first time, and i dontno how to play a sorcerer. ive been killed millions of times, have no money, no mana, no equipment.
so i could only delete this char.
next, i played a rogue, thats much easier, no problem getting started.
any suggestions how to play a sorcerer (besides cheating)?
