Play to your style...

I use Zealoth Mail, Thinking Cap, Arch-Shield, 2 Nibelunges Rings, Pendant of Valar and Dreamflange.

That gives me a max slvl of 28 (29 if I ever find The Shaman) for TONS of damage. But it also gives me an AC10 and +45 damage taken from enemies. Which means I use teleport a lot to keep out of close combat. Should I be caught by an ass master or similar fast moving fast attacking demon I'd be screwed with stun lock.

My answer is that you should play to whatever you like best. If you like tank mages go with divine full plate of magery and a battleshield or a similar combination. If you like to deal massive amounts of damage but have to run around a lot, go with something similar to what I use. But whatever you should choose, make sure your resistances are high or you'll spend most of your time on the ground.
