thx and some new questions...by frodothanks for the sorcerer-how-to-start-for-dummies some threads ago. i'll try it again... now i have some new questions: 1. is it possible to transfer abys-chars to other computers? i play mostly solo-multi at home, sometimes in lan with my friends at their home. bnet is fucking expensive in germany... i know the transfer procedure from diablo with diablobackup, its quite tricky, even more tricky if u have winnt. 2. is there any guide available about pre- suffixes, uniques and so on in abysmal? not as completely as jarulf, just a small overview? i played mephisto mod some time ago, found very quickly some items which pushed my stats into horrible heights. and i didn't know whether they are good or not. they (kraken, goldkrone) were, i found out. after that, the game was much too easy. besides that, the german translations are quite shitty, even for me as german. abysmal wont get too easy, i think. but i want to know about the "ultimate" pre/suffixes, uniques and useful values for life mana ac and so on. 3. a friend of mine started also a abys-mage, but he has other stats (less strength), other skill (identify me, staff recharge him). is it another version (i think its the same, we downloaded it nearly the same day) or is that random behaviour? kill'em all frodo |
okby PSY1. use bobafetts www.greatbobafett.com 2. check the dataabys.txt, should be in the initial dat zip file. oh, and abysmal IS too easy for a mage with the right items and also TOO easy due to the kickass item drops my rogue, warrior AND mage can all take hell/hell like a walk in a park(all 100% legit), check earlier posts for my setups(which i havent touched since then) if u want difficulty, try the tolkien mod, thats a real challenge(www.vkmods.de) 3. his one is probably tolkien mod (or some others) all abys mages has id as their ability PSY |

version problem?by frodoi think it's a version problem. i had the latest version (11/06/99), and there should be always identify skill. maybe even a difference between exe and datfile. i play the exe version because of nt restrictions. now i installed dual boot (nt for "serious computing" and 95 for diablo), so i can also try the dat version. tonight! cu frodo |

finally got itby frodook, so look for the version date. yesterday i checked my friends abys-file (he has recharge skill). he had an older version than 11/06/99. dontno where he got it from. now he got the new one and can still use his old char, but with id skill and lost 20 str. (max str 40 -> 20). so he cant use most of his gear....but he will find new things |

i got one!!by zanto~abysThe little what ever you would like to call him gave me one of the really good swords i think its spelled ? Sufis or somthing like that its a falcion so it has only 20 durationbut it has 175 chanse to hit and i think its like 150 or so to damage.So now i do hell/hell and this is how it goes. i go down to hell fight like 15 or 20 monsters come back get my strange sword of the ages go down to church clear level one come back to town take the money and fix my sufis sword drop off my ages sword go back to hell kill 15 or so monsters come back to town get my ages sword go back down to church clear level 2 take the money come back to town fix my sufis sword.then go back to hell.. ? you know at this rate i will be 95 years old before i ever make it to level 16 .i can kill most monsters ok now and the problum is that the cost to fix the sword is so high its like between 3500 and 18000 to fix it when it gets low on duration. i have found alot of really good stuf but then again i have found alot of junk to all in all this mod is over all and hands down 2 to 3 times better then ... VK....Doc z. NetherWorld ..dragon lance and the other 14 mods i have tried. the german mod is just really strange.. and all in german to so you really dont know what the hell kinda sword you you have and as for middle earth well the jurys still out on that one.. Abysmal~diablo is like a dream come true for me and the kids i would like to end this by saying thank you tom and if you ever want to do this full time post a message here ..i ant no kid and i do have money to make it worth your while.. the small things mean alot and in other mods there just not there not like in this one yours in game play just~aother~elf aka zanto~abys |

Really when I got back online I actually asked some Abysmal players about modifications ( ok I called em patches but the msg was clear ) & they did not even try to tell me... Now days I am still telling people about Abysmal,observing people being told on Diablo forum still etc. Abysmal would of been such a hit if only the message was more wide spread. That is a nice sword you got there, I bought a Sifu's Scimatar of Slaughter..very shiny just waiting to find a Vaire's amulet. noby PSYi think ultimates are just slightly nicer than some top edge base items Justifier offets its benefits with the light radius, as a warrior i rather prefer my sifu/haste bastard (awake to many guys = dead warrior) J-bow is not much better than a plain Kings Ancient war bow of Zodiac (i only has heavens), if u sit down and compare the stats i much rather the + to all than hp and mana bonuses, and damage is not that much of a prob.. my rogue already does something like 110-170 with kings/heavens a.warbow Shaman is the ONLY decent ultimate, 200 to mana and 35% resist all(takjes away a prefix), leads to more mana, 4 spell levels is simply NICEEEEE, and mages doesnt care for light since most of mages wear double nibs, or at least one nibs but i wouldnt give all i have for a shaman, either Conclusion: ultimates are WAYYY overrated (with the possible exception of the Shaman) PSY |

erm..light?by PSYhmm what about the light radius?.. u gonna wear a gotter or mararuders to make up for it? coz for a warrior in hell/hell, attracting too much enemy = dead warrior, whereas it might not be as much of a prob for mage (fast stone curse, teleport, apoc, nova etc etc) light radius is abig ouch for ANY warrior (well.. maybe not if u got the PERFECT gear) which i think is.... divine/whale with perfect +100 hp Battleshield Obs/lion assault helm(for infra) with the perfect 60hp sifu maul of haste (replacable with justifier if u dun mind taking on at least 3-4 enemy at a time, but if u got all of these.... u r looking at around 800hp and 200 damage, and enough to hit, and close to 400 ac) obs gods ring hydra gods ring hydra gods necklace OR replace the hydra gods necklace with a mith gods AND use a kings ancient mace of haste instead (HUGE damage potential, u r talking around 200 avarage) i am using kings ancient mace of speed on my warrior and a mith/perfection necklace... and he does 186-226 damage at clevel 38 (one handed!!) that is good dmgby Yaeshua~A+AI am currently doing around 175-198 due to my recent jugers plate find.Im one of those people that can deal with no mana and the +8 dmg taken. I find the extra 20 dmg really helps with that one or 2 extra swings not being required & ofcourse the quite respectable ac. Light radius is an issue but Gotter compensates that rather nicely & gives good all round stats/ac. However even without Gotter I bet that sword would really swing ( ehe its terrible I know ) things in your favour with Diablo's minions. |
ohby PSYSo.. u r trading finesse(mana) for pure destructive power(jugg).. well that isnt my style:) so i guess everyone has a diff style of playing, and it all comes down to that:) i find it hard to deal with no mana... but thats just me:) plus i REALLY like my obs lion assault helm (built in 3% life suck, and infra, along with the prefix/suffix) but thats just my view PSY |

Well everything is shifting into Diablo IIby Yaeshua~A+AWhich I hope shall be good =) Starting to think it may not have a great impact one me.. Can actually play Nightmare/Hell leves or Hell/Cave levels. Still using my Grandfather =) Level 38 & getting a few fury necklaces,with a big of luck I'll find a mithril/something fury necklace. Believe it or not I wont be signing up for Stress test...nay Abysmal is still alot of fun for me,Warrior = A continual challenge thus it is always rewarding. |

yeah well from your position I understandby Yaeshua~A+ABut for me I am still taking it very slowly around Nightmare Hell, I have to juggle my jewel set up 2 counter the differant nasties , Hell Hell is not a current option. Thing is though , is that now I am suddenly finding much better items all these fury necklaces, an ancient ruthless mace etc so at about level 37-38 better items may have been activated or something..possibly my incredible bad luck needed a holiday. Anyway I just finished playing 2 hours straight & can never type correctly afterwards =) erm ok as I was saying for me there is still a considerable challenge + tons of items yet to be aquired etc etc As for Diablo II , I think Paladin may be a little weak in latter stages I know people dont see this now but he is not a specialist in any particular field, then there is the one aura at a time + the fact his auras benefit the whole group.So all these awesome powers but no one dominant aspect means that in latter acts or harder difficulty the Paladin may be strained going solo and the other side of the coin parties may need a good paladin in later acts/levels also...specualtion, remains to be seen. Amazon's evade spell is very cool =) Sorceress is going to be a very dominant player for sure, Necromancer well I dont know really..raising monsters to fight for you sounds cool & has alot of appeal but for how long can you enjoy doing that ( considering that is his main talent ). Barbarian, hmm I am unsure at the given time he may become an excellent pure melee player or he may just be dull compared to the other classes,eeya Diablo II =) |
wellby PSYto me a bow/c-bow amazon with multishot/scrafing AND critical/penetrate/pierce, along with a few points in dodge, avoid and evade looks like a very attractve first d2 character dunno how u guys see it though paladin weak solo?.. how about skills like zeal, charge, smite, and all the combat skills he has?, in melee he has quite a potential too Sorceress might not be so good for the weak skilled due to her low hp and mana shield only avail later in the game and only if she picks lightening tree (its pretty deep in there) summoning isnt necros only talant, he has curses and offensive spells... but the main fun is gonna be summoning stuff since hes pretty much the onmly guy that can specialise on it (amazon has valk, but not sure if its worth it and only one at a time may be summoned) Barbarian should be a fun char with all the options he has, should nt be as dull as just a pure melee char... okay..by PSYJugg isnt required (lose mana and the + damage = ouch for warrior) battleshield isnt too hard to find, nm/hell should give it to u, dur starts at 5 though all u need to find is some plate that has about 230-240 ac i do have battleshield, and i gave 2 juggs away so i got none now but... would u have what i want? em/wiz or em/gods amulet/necklaces? obs/wiz assault helms? hydra/gods or hydra/wiz jewels? anyway, if u have any of the above, name what u want...:) PSY |

hackers cheaters and basic unfair playby zanto~abysIt seems to be the norm that with any new game that sooner or later you wind up with cheaters hackers and your all around jerks. and its with a heavy heart that i am going to delet abysmal from my computer. abysmal is still the greatest best put together diablo i have ever played and i have play alote of mods i was going to list them .but with all the cheaters hackers and jerk around i would rather not.. in the short time i played abysmal 99.997% of the players are legit its just the few bad apples that make the game not worth playing in the last two days i have been (1) auto pked (2)ripped off (3)auto booted off the net (4)been killed in the middle of monsters just to get what i had on, (5)gang pked (6) made to look the fool ( that was not that hard am to trusting. but tom dont stop working on mods when diablo 2 comes out could you try to spend time making a mod for it ? your work on this mod shows how much time you put into all the small things my greatest thanks to you Tom for the fun i had and my grand kids have had playing this yours in game play just~aother~elf aka zanto~abys |

In the state of Oregon.(West Coast). in a small town called Coos Bay. i am on Battle Net at about 3:00 pm till 5:00 pm and again from about 11:00 pm till 3:00 am The Rest of the time i am playing with my grand kids or playing ABYSMAL~DIABLO on mod play or playing dirct connect play. from time to time i get on b.net and go to the channel trading post to talk to people and to the channel better tower. Ido hope that this will clear up any time diffrents and that i may finly get rid of this shield ..thanks for hanging in there,, zanto~abys aka just~aother~elf |
