Anybody have a Kawasaki Vulcan 500?

I just started riding, took to MSF riding course, got licensed, got my '76 KZ400 on the road, rode up in the hills with the Harley neighbors, been commuting to work through Little Tujunga Canyon, doing good. The KZ has some carb issues and you can't get new jet or needle parts. I would also like something wioth a bit more weight for the winds, a bit more power under hand and a lower profile. After reading about the various small cruisers I see people raving about the Vulcan 500.

Any thoughts?

I dont know anything about vulcans . what is it you want ideally ? like weight , hp , 2 stroke 4 stroke .

mikuni vm carbs are all over the place , they are conventional , well built , round slide , carbs .

Nobody seems to know how to tune cv carbs including the factories .

Lectron carbs are my preference they are about as simple as a carb can possibly be and they will roundly whip any other carb that I am aware of including the current keihin pwk. Lectrons were used on pro stock bikes until they went to efi so it's a buyers market now .

With regard to the KZ, here are the carbs.
Thx to the great website and forums athttp://kz400.com

No proper rebuild kits exist for these, and new jets & rods are not available. Nevertheless, I have to deal with them.
