Before anyone can begin to help, you must provide more information:
Processor/RAM
Operating System
Video Card
Sound Card
DirectX version
There are some documented problems with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but I believe there are some workarounds.
For Win2K, try http://www.ntcompatible.com for some information.
