Bogey is the correct designation for an ambiguous contact. Don't know if you are using the term or that is the call in the SIM.
If I remember correctly, the spoken DECLARATIONS of 'Bandits' in the sim is "HOSTILE", but I don't recall what happens if I ever asked for a Declaration on a NEUTRAL..so if you are getting a 'BOGEY' declaration, it means just that...the AWACS is tracking an aircraft, which does not squawk IFF, but they cannot otherwise determine if it is friendly or hostile (how they really do this is a good trick, of course....)
