I'm kind of surprised they break off to engage that far away....esp without a CAP, Fighter Sweep or other action. Unless you or another flight called for assistance, in which case they may be vectored.
To ASSURE they dont, make their Waypoint Action "DRONE" and they will fly straight and level and totally oblivious to anything going on.
