The solution is simpler than I had anticipated (it's a wonder what a smoke and a coke will do for you). Forget about counting, forget about the info box. Simply press f12, it will show IDs for every ground object plugin, now translate into decimal, and voila!
I recommend the VIEW_FLYBY view coz the ID is actually for a single element in the plugin and that is not always what you want to show. Usually, you want to show the whole plugin which will work with flyby giving you an overview of the plugin as it zeroes in on the element. Happy hunting all...
