It was on or just prior to Opn. Union.
Phu Doc(4) was a ville we (B, 1/5)...uhhh 1st Plt
assaulted once upon a time. My squad leader was
RD Smith. Fire teem leader was Bartok. We had a Doc
Butrie(sp?), an RL Jackson and a Cpl Krisp, etc. Bartok
was killed rightbeforemyeyes with a booby trap
set off by the point man. I think our squad had
four guys in it. The discussion I was having
centered around never having a TO squad.
We had a Lt. Scotia(sp?) and our base was located
on Hill 54 in Chu Lai. Most of my contacts these days
are about Opn. Swift--a portion about Swift by Col.
Hilgartner is being posted on my site--with his
permission. It isn't pretty yet, but it's up there.

pot bellies when we were growing up in Birmingham, Al. Mike says
we're heading back to that as we age.
The picture of me holding the MK-240 machine gun is at one of my
nephew's machine gun classes. His wife--my niece in law--has her
back to the camera. I forgot to mention in an earlier post on the other
1/5 site--this class is in Weapons Company, 3/5 at Camp Pendleton.
It wasn't until I saw this flick and posted Mikes link on my home
page that I realized what a Marine Corps family I'm a part of. I could go on
but this'll do. Anyone know anything about Phu Doc(4) and the names I
posted--please let me know. I'd love to talk.
