Interesting reading. Some big egos out there, some BS and some honest people. I was one of the orginal 5 snipers in the 9th Divisions pilot sniper program in Vietnam in 1967. We had one week training, were given a national match M-14 with a Redfield 3 X 9 scope with range finder, and sent out to see what we could do. Wasn't a very good program as I was never contacted by anyone from divison for follow up or to check on any success or failure of program. Would like to hear from the other 4 snipers if they are still out there. We graduated sniper school at Bear Cat in July 1967. We received a sniper Badge from the school. We gave ourselves black berets and designed a "sniper" patch much like the "ranger" patch that we wore over our division patch.
See a lot of messages on who had the most kills, who was the baddest in Nam. Does it matter. We were given a job and we did it. Some were more successful than others, due more in part in where their area of operation was rather than natural ability, I think. In the delta we didn't have a lot of open country but we did what we could do. One kill or 100 we are all brothers in the same family. Yes I did and the count does'n matter.
