Graduated in June 69 in Dong Tam, half the class were from the Navy, this time it was almost a 3 week course, same Redfield 3X9 and national match M-14. They actually flunked out about half the guys. The only army school of that era that I encountered that actually did that. Re-zeroed weapon at Chu Chi when the school was moved there. A draftee, it was the only three weeks of my service where the lifers were friendly and competent.
I, as most of us, was lucky to have had the chance to go, it is no bullshit that we were safer than the regular line doggies for having gone. I tell my friends that today and they think I am just being understated. Those of us who have been there know I am not.
