The question you ask about bending the traditional songform has pretty much the same answer as the classic "hook placement" enigma -- though this is, in reality, a variation on that theme. Unfortunately, I fear the same double-standard applies -- you're free to bend the songform, of course, after you've sold a couple of multi-platinum albums -- until then, you'll likely be forced to play by the more traditional rules. I agree with Anthony that molding this into an A-A-B-A form would be the way to go.
