Count me in with those who are disappointed that FJ's "Selling Faith" was deleted. Now I'll never know what being American had to do with anything ! But seriously, FJ's posted here before, and I think we've come to know him/her as a budding, if somewhat misguided talent. In particular, I thought Bob Clay's critique was beautifully balanced and fair, and showed much more what this board is about -- we might not agree with the beliefs or politics of another member -- but we do know a poorly crafted song when we see one, and don't flinch in pointing it out. I, for one, would be immensely disappointed if FJ were deprived of Bob's insight.
Now I don't want anybody to think I'm lecturing Shayne on how to run this board. So far as I'm concerned, it's his restaurant, and he has the right to refuse service to whomever he chooses. But I do not think that FJ's post was, in any way, on the level of DanTheLyricMan's obvious heckling ... afterall, he's consistently posted his e-mail address -- rather than sniping at us from annonymity. If FJ's prepared to accept our condemnation of his lyrics openly, we should be prepared to offer it just as openly.
I may not agree with what FJ says -- but I will defend to the death his right to say it. How's that for an American sentiment?
