One thing I feel would help this one is that the little voice was one of doubt not re-assurance. Felt this aspect was back to front to the way the relationship was going.
Think the point of it is that he took her over completly but don't think it quite worked.
Changing this would also tie in with the later referance of it disappearing I believe.
