Hi Anthony. As usual, this lyric is full of clever lines and twists, so good job in that department. I really hesitate to give you a deep critique on this one, because it's not really my style of song, or a style of song that I can relate to. You probably know that all I ever write is country.

Overall it sounds like a pretty good theme for its genre. I'll go through line by line and point out things I do and don't like.

One thing about the song I found confusing is the metaphor you use about being in jail. Is this a similar metaphor to being in the doghouse, by any chance? I guess I don't quite understand how being in jail relates to being in trouble with your significant other. This could very easily be my country critiquing style speaking, so don't be too concerned by this.

Don’t know if it was something I said
Or simply something I had thrown
good first two lines; catchy intro into the song, and really sets up the story well (I'm thinking this guy got drunk, did something stupid, and woke up to find himself somwhere not knowing how he got there).
But here I am in some big strange bed
In room 102 all alone

I’m exiled here ‘til you take me back
is he really stuck in this motel room, or is this just a figure of speech?
And I can only make one call
To plead my case ‘til you take the jack
And rip it right outta the wall

(Chorus)
‘Cause I’m in jail for the night
I’m in jail for the night
I’ve done the crime
Now I’ll do the time
It takes to make my wrongs all right
Yeah, I’m in jail for the night

again, I don't quite see what the chorus means, and how it relates to what this guy just did.

No one’s gonna come and bail me out
Of this mess I got myself in
just exactly what kind of mess is he in? Are you just refering to him being in trouble with his significant other, or is he actually some kind of real trouble?
There isn’t a shadow of a doubt
I’m guilty of a lot of sins

Go ahead and throw the book at me
There’s a Gideons in this drawer
Please just let me make a final plea
Baby, I can’t take it no more

(Chorus)

(Guitar solo bridge)

(Chorus)

Again Anthony, the connection between being in jail and being in trouble with his significant other is a little hard for me to understand. Then again, this might be one of those songs with a good beat and music that you really don't need to understand to appreciate.

Gregg
