A lot of good basic info here. One thing to remember that everything is negotiable when dealing with a song being recorded. If an artist wants 50% publishing on the song, I would give it on that cut only. In effect if the song is cut again the first artist would have no rights in the second cut. He would of course have royalities on his own recording as per his agreement. As far as expensive demos are concerned most publishers in Nashville say they are needed to compete when submitting material. I am not ready to spend that kind of money. If I was going to spend that kind of money I would prefer to find an artist and do a complete album in one of the budget studios. Good Writing everybody. RES.
