It's tough, but you did the right thing. I'm not just mean, I'm EVIL. Tonight I was the meanest mom in the whole world and ALL her friends have moms that let them do whatever they want whenever they want. I tried to rationalize, then just gave up and said "I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'm not changing my mind". I don't even remember what it was about.
It's the age. They're trying to assert their independence, but they aren't quite sure what that means yet and they're frustrated when they're thwarted.
Right now my daughter is on the phone scheduling her own playdate. Her friend called her, left a message, SJ returned the call, left a message and the friend called back and now they're having a very intense conversation about Webkinz. She's 5 going on 13.
